When asked to comment on the below market expectation performance, Jockey J. Byrne reported that the gelding, which was having its first start today, began only fairly as apposed to its official trial leading into today’s event and as a result, he was obliged to ride the gelding along in the early stages to obtain the leading position. Jockey Byrne also added that after travelling well after this the gelding failed to quicken as he had expected when rounding the home turn and ran on only fairly for the remainder of the event. Post- Race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
