Seamer’s triple treat

Perfect Feeling stretches out for a commanding win
|
Top jockey Scott Seamer put in some impressive rides to claim three wins at City Pacific Doomben on Saturday, July 12.
The first win came in the second race aboard the topweight Perfect Feeling in the Carlton Draught Fillies and Mares Handicap 1640m.
Since moving from Peter Moody’s stables, it was Perfect Feeling’s (M5 Spinning World USA-Lady Cairns) first start in Queensland for trainer Trevor Bailey and she aced it.
From the jump Seamer gradually pushed her forward to get to the front by an ample margin.
Straightening up, the other runners started to put in the challenges but Perfect Feeling had plenty in reserve and got even further in front.
Rash Promise (Jim Byrne) followed in second by one and a quarter lengths.
Third was Little Imp (Mandy Radecker) by three quarters of a length and $3.50 race favourite Our Jangles (Jason Holder) followed in fourth by a half head.

Seamer said he was very happy with the mare’s run and was quite confident heading into the race.
“There was always going to be not a lot of speed in the race so intentions were to go forward. They let me have the lead and she sprinted home very well,” he said.
“It was quite a slow speed. She had 58 kilos as well so I didn’t want to get too far back in the field because of the big weight.
“Her form in Victoria was good. She was placed in probably races that are a lot stronger than what she was in on Saturday so I knew she’d go well.”
Perfect Feeling has earned $269,921 for connections including five wins, six seconds and seven thirds. She also had a stint racing in Happy Valley and Sha Tin and was sold to Glenlogan Park in late June.
Seamer quickly picked up another win at Doomben in the following race, the Lyndhurst Stud 0MW LY Handicap 1640m aboard the Phillip Cox-trained Secrets Untold.
He also followed this up with a second in the Fun Factory Handicap 1350m with the Brian Gentle-trained Falcrest (NZ).
But the completion of the treble came in race seven, the In Loving Memory of Ronald Wicks Handicap 1200m with the Liam Birchley-trained Bitabiff.
The $4.60 race favourite sat on the rails after jumping from barrier one and travelled mid field.
Seamer started to get Bitabiff (G6 Kenfair NZ-Celtic Cloak) to creep up after the home turn and found a gap in the centre. They pulled away to win by three quarters of a length in front of Master Denis (Glen Colless).
General Patton (Jim Byrne) followed in third by a half length.
Seamer described Bitabiff as a nice horse. “He appreciates a very good gate,” he said.
“His last two runs he’s won but he’s drawn one both times. Without the good barrier I think he would have found it difficult to win.”
Bitabiff moved to the Birchley stables after a short break and has now won his last two starts.
Seamer was on board for these two rides which were both from the inside barrier and was confident it would work in his favour again.
“I thought he’d go very well because he’d drew the one barrier. If he had of drawn from five to 10 it just would have made it that little bit harder. He’s a horse that needs all the luck and lucky his last two starts he’s got all the luck,” he said.
Seamer said he used exactly the same tactics with the two rides. “Just waited for a split and away I went,” he said.
Bitabiff has had eight wins, six seconds and four thirds from his 41 starts earning $245,350 for connections.
Seamer described riding the treble as very pleasing. “It was quite good. I’m very happy,” he said.
