$100,000 Maiden Plate to be run at first Brisbane Racing Club meeting
Recently, Queensland Racing Limited (QRL) took the decision to add a race to the first official Brisbane Racing Club (BRC) meeting on Saturday, July 4, 2009 to highlight the significance of this event.
QRL has scheduled a $100,000 Maiden Plate to be run as the Brisbane Town Plate and conducted over 1400 metres at Eagle Farm.
The ‘Brisbane Town Plate’ was the first feature race conducted in Queensland by the Moreton Bay Race Club on July 17, 1843, at Coopers Plains.
This race joins the $100,000 Maiden conducted on Magic Millions day as the richest Maiden in Australia.
The $100,000 Brisbane Town Plate will have set weight conditions and will be programmed for two-year-olds and upwards, to enable any two-year-old remaining a maiden performer following the Sires Produce and T.J. Smith Stakes to compete.
Ends.
