STEWARDS REPORT
DEAGON OFFICES – TUESDAY 29 APRIL 2008
Stewards today concluded an inquiry that was opened on Tuesday, 8 April 2008 into a number of matters that occurred at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday, 29 March 2008.
Jockey D Peisley was charged under AR81A(1)(b) in that when requested by the stewards to provide a urine sample he refused to do so. Jockey D Peisley was disqualified for a period of 12 months effective 29 March 2008 the day on which he was stood down and to expire at midnight on 29 March 2009.
Jockey W Pearson was charged with improper conduct under AR175(q) in that as a licensed jockey, he had in his possession in the Gold Coast Turf Club jockeys room on Saturday, 29 March 2008 illegal substances. Jockey
W Pearson was disqualified for a period of 3 years effective 29 March 2008 the day on which he was stood down and to expire at midnight on 29 March 2011.
Jockey W Pearson was further found guilty of a charge under AR81A(1)(b) in that he failed to provide a urine sample when directed by the stewards at the Gold Coast Turf on Saturday, 29 March 2008. Jockey W Pearson was disqualified for a period of 12 months effective 29 March 2008 the day on which he was stood down and to expire at midnight on 29 March 2009.
Stewards ordered that both disqualifications for Jockey W Pearson be served concurrently.
