Racing Queensland Limited (RQL) recommends that you familiarize yourself with your State Government and local council's rules and regulations in relation to animal registration and welfare issues. Council rules have precedent over the rules of Greyhound Racing.
There are three registration options available:
OWNER
permitting the holder to own a greyhound for racing and or breeding purposes. Applicants must be over 18 years. After Racing Queensland Limited has processed your application you will be sent a registration certificate and a rule book. PARTNERSHIP
permitting the holder (2-4 persons) to own a greyhound for racing and or breeding purposes. Applicants must be over 18 years.
Members of a partnership shall appoint one of the members as the delegated person and RQL shall treat and deal with the delegated person as if the person was the sole owner. Members of a partnership may also appoint the delegated person as an agent for the purposes of exercising any power, making any decision or taking any action on behalf of the Partnership or its members. Careful consideration should be given before answering question 6 on the application form. Please note that an interstate resident must be licenced with the controlling body in that state or territory as an Owner to form part of a Partnership. SYNDICATE
permitting the holder (5-19 persons) to own a greyhound for racing and or breeding purposes. Applicants must be over 18 years.
Members of a syndicate shall appoint one of the members as the delegated person and RQL shall treat and deal with the delegated person as if the person was the sole owner. Members of a syndicate may also appoint the delegated person as an agent for the purposes of exercising any power, making any decision or taking any action on behalf of the Partnership or its members. Careful consideration should be given before answering question 6 on the application form. Fees are applicable for all licence types - please refer to fee schedule: http://www.racingqueensland.com.au/services/forms/greyhounds.aspx ATTENDANT - permitting the holder to handle a greyhound on behalf of a licenced or registered person. Applicant must be 14 years or over.
Attendant application form: http://www.racingqueensland.com.au/services/forms/greyhounds.aspx • Applicants under 16 years will be granted a provisional licence to catch greyhounds only. • Applicants 18 years and older must provide RQL with a National Police Certificate (name only). You will need to visit a local police station with proof of identity to apply for a National Police Certificate, the fee is approximately $50.00, and also ensure that you obtain a receipt.
• Applicants that have been licenced with RQL within the last 5 years of application date will not be required to provide a National Police Certificate.
• A photograph will be required by RQL to produce your licence. If calling into the office of RQL we will be happy to take your photograph, or you can provide RQL with a passport size photograph or email photo in .bmp or .jpeg format. • If not licenced with a greyhound controlling body within the last 5 years of application date, applicants will be required to complete a competency assessment and practical assessment within 3 months of licence application date. Failure to complete the assessments within the 3 month period may result in your licence being suspended.
After Racing Queensland Limited has processed your application you will be sent your licence and a rule book.
TRAINER CLASS 4 - permitting the holder, not being the holder of any other class of licence to, rear, break in or pre-train a greyhound owned by the holder. For the purpose of this Rule "pre-train" shall mean the care/training of a greyhound for racing, preparatory to the training of the greyhound being taken over by a licensed Class 1, 2 or 3 trainer at least 4 weeks prior to the proposed date of an event for which the greyhound may be nominated.

• Applicants must provide RQL with a National Police Certificate (name only). You will need to visit a local police station with proof of identity to apply for a National Police Certificate, the fee is approximately $50.00, and also ensure that you obtain a receipt.
• A photograph will be required by RQL to produce your licence. If calling into the office of RQL we will be happy to take your photograph, or you can provide RQL with a passport size photograph or email photo in .bmp or .jpeg format.
After Racing Queensland Limited has processed your application you will be sent your licence, rule book and a complimentary copy of the book "So you want to be a greyhound trainer". You will also receive The Racing Queensland Magazine a monthly publication.
TRAINER CLASS 3 - permitting the holder to train a greyhound owned by the holder or by an immediate member of the holder's family residing with the holder. For the purpose of this category "owned" includes part owned and the Authority may, under any conditions it determines, dispense with the residency provision. TRAINER CLASS 2 - permitting the holder to train not more than the number of greyhounds prescribed by the Authority. (The prescribed greyhounds at this time is not more than 10 racing greyhounds).

You will need to visit a local police station with proof of identity to apply for a National Police Certificate, the fee is approximately $50.00, and also ensure that you obtain a receipt.
• Applicants must provide description of kenneling/housing of greyhound/s.
• If not licenced with a greyhound controlling body within the last 5 years of application date, applicants will be required to complete a competency assessment and practical assessment within 3 months of licence application date. Applicants upgrading from an Attendant's or Class 3 Trainer's licence will be required to compete a competency assessment only. Failure to complete the assessment/s within the 3 month period may result in your licence being suspended.

TRAINER CLASS 1 - permitting the holder to train any greyhound.

STUD MASTER - permitting the holder to carry out the duties of a stud master in connection with a registered sire and to rear, break in or pre-train any greyhound.
