RACE TWO

EYE SEE DOUBLE (8) was 2nd up from a break in a Trot Rods heat here last time out when beaten for early speed and with the power on out in front, was left to chase in vain and holding on for 2nd. The start prior he took on a stronger race when back in the pack behind SEA HAWKE and with the right trail here, can look to finish over the top.

PRINCE JOY (4) eased to find the 1x1 trail last start in a small field over this trip. With even sections in front, he was able to arrive in time to claim victory by a head. A passing lane 3rd here 3 starts back when returning from a spell, he will be relying on some early tempo that looks on offer to close late.

MISTERRIODEJANEIRO (2) led them up last start in a heat for the Final that we see in Race 1 tonight. After a steady opening half, he couldn’t hold them out. With that early speed, he can feature here.

SAINT KILDA BEACH (6) was sent forward to the breeze here last start when 1st up from a freshen and laying down the gauntlet, scored a tough grinding win in strong time. Despite the gate, she is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: EYE SEE DOUBLE (8), PRINCE JOY (4), MISTERRIODEJANEIRO (2), SAINT KILDA BEACH (6)
SUGGESTED BET: EYE SEE DOUBLE (8)

RACE THREE

TOANUI SPIRIT (1) found the right conditions last start when spearing out from gate 2, taking control in front and running home a slick closing 800m panel to put them away in claiming a 17m victory. Not suited in the breeze 2 starts back, the lead looks hers with the only query looking the rise to the 2040m.

A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (3) has been consistent with a top-3 in his past 5 outings, finishing as the runner-up at his past 2. Whacking away in the breeze last time from gate 5, he was 4m short of the winner which followed a half-neck defeat. He can do the work and will be in for the fight once again.

IMA REGAL JET (8) started from inside the 2nd line here last time out and soon found himself locked away 4 back on the poles. Closing out strongly in the lattes stages to grab the bronze, he can be chiming in again.

GOOD AS IT GETS (2) returns from a spell after just 2 starts in late December to resume his 3YO term. Not too far away in each of those, he comes to the Triangle where he is 1 from 1 and will take benefit from whatever he can achieve in this.

SELECTIONS: TOANUI SPIRIT (1), A ROCKNROLL LEGACY (3), IMA REGAL JET (8), GOOD AS IT GETS (2)
SUGGESTED BET: TOANUI SPIRIT (1) to win

RACE FOUR

EULO FLYER (2)
was a winner here 5 starts back when facing the breeze and packing too many guns to score victory by a head. Since that victory he has been running into stronger opponents, the latest when fading under a tough run. From the gate he can look to get to the front and will be gripping on.

ONLY IN ROME (5) was sent forward from gate 6 over the sprint trip here 4 runs back and was in for the fight when holding on for the silver behind SEA HAWKE. Taken off the gate at his next 2 in qualifiers, he was wide last time out. This looks a winnable contest despite the gate and he can throw down the challenge.

GHOST GUM (3) should be able to settle just in behind the pressure here and if it is too willing, will be ready to strike. Hitting the line nicely here last start from back in the pack, he can feature.

DARBY BRIGHTS (1) has been winless for some time, however she is getting closer to breaking the drought. Placed at her past 4 in succession, she was attacking the line hard last start and will be stalking them here.

SELECTIONS: EULO FLYER (2), ONLY IN ROME (5), GHOST GUM (3), DARBY BRIGHTS (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-3-5

RACE FIVE

TORQUE IS MY GIRL (7) has been to the track 3 times this campaign and should now be approaching full fitness. Striking some trouble in the run last start, she was mid-field behind the handy winner TAYLOR HOOD. Returning to mares only company is a big plus and with some factors in her favour can look to make the closing shot a winning one.

IMA BEACH BABE (1) will strip fitter from her return when taking on a similar fillies and mares event from this same gate. Releasing early, she chased hard when the gap opened to be within 2m of the winner LETHAL STAR to claim the bronze. With the options from the gate, she looks right in this.

COULDNTELLYA (6) eased from gate 6 last start to find the running line back in the field. Making a closing charge, she was able to arrive for a smart win. From the gate she will need to repeat that here.

MISS CATALINA (8)
hasn’t been too far away in recent outings and last start was flashing home in the closing stages to grab the bronze in a mares qualifier. With an easy trip she can charge late.

SELECTIONS: TORQUE IS MY GIRL (7), IMA BEACH BABE (1), COULDNTELLYA (6), MISS CATALINA (8)
SUGGESTED BET: TORQUE IS MY GIRL (7) to win

RACE SIX

Heat 8 of the Trot Rods and this heat will see the winner end a winless streak with the field all looking to recapture the winning feeling. MAGHERA MAGGIE (6) is the most recent winner of the 6 and despite the outside might just have the measure of them. Holding on for 3rd last start after racing in the pocket trail, she was tough in the breeze the start prior when 2nd. This is within reach.

OUR CHAMPION (1) might have forgotten the address to winners lane, with the last of his 3 career victories coming 18 months back. However, the short trip of these Trot Rods looks to suit. With good speed off the arm, he can look to take control early and with just the 947m to scamper over, he will be gripping on tight.

WESTERN SHOWGIRL (2) is still a maiden after 11 appearances in race-day livery, returning one placing. 2 starts back she was in for the fight after doing it the tough way and from the gate, she can be close enough to feature.

SELECTIONS: MAGHERA MAGGIE (6), OUR CHAMPION (1), WESTERN SHOWGIRL (2)
SUGGESTED BET: MAGHERA MAGGIE (6) to win

RACE SEVEN

CANNAN (5)
held the trail from inside the 2nd line last start and with the easy ride was able to make the closing shot a winning one in scoring a 5m victory. Eased in the early stages here 2 starts back, he has the last position next to his name, yet was only 9m from the winner. The wide gate stings, but with even luck in transit he is worth a chance.

TICK OF THE CLOCK (3) features in a stable switch and will line up for the Ben Battle barn for the 1st time. Only 4m in arrears of ALI DOWNUNDER last start from the tapes at Marburg, it had followed a 2m 2nd to the all-the-way winner CHROMOZONE. With good early speed, he can look to capitalise.

CAM YOU FEEL IT (8) started from gate 5 here 2 runs back when tracking home in good order to grab the bronze behind RITCHIE BEE. Not suited when forced to do it tough last time, he can chime in.

TRENTLEIGH (4) struck some trouble in the run last start that would have seen him finish closer than he ultimately did. With early speed, he might just have an early look here and looks to have podium hopes.

SELECTIONS: CANNAN (5), TICK OF THE CLOCK (3), CAM YOU FEEL IT (8), TRENTLEIGH (4)
SUGGESTED BET: CANNAN (5) to win

RACE EIGHT

Despite coming up with the wide gate, DE VOYAGE (5) looks to be well-placed in this contest. Taking benefit from her latest appearance when returning from a 6-week break between starts, her form is against much stronger opponents than she will face here. Mid-field to LETTERKENNY BOY last start, she wasn’t far from B MAC C 3 runs back. This looks ideal.

LITTLELIONELJAMES (6) is another that has been taking on stronger races than wheat he finds himself in here. Making a mess of things early 2 starts back, it was a huge run to be within 3m of the winner ARBIT MAJOR. Runner-up last start behind TAYLOR HOOD, he will throw down the challenge.

BOMBADIER JUJON (8) will take good benefit from his latest outing when resuming from a break. Sent to the post as fav, he made a costly error. Lightly raced with just 5 career appearances, he can chime in.

BE ON THE SLY (7) will be needing a rub of the green from this gate to find some clear space. A tidy all the way winner 2 starts back, not much went right last time. He will be probing for openings.

SELECTIONS: DE VOYAGE (5), LITTLELIONELJAMES (6), BOMBADIER JUJON (8), BE ON THE SLY (7)
SUGGESTED BET: DE VOYAGE (5) to win

RACE NINE

TYPHOON TORQUE (1) took on older horses last start over this trip where she was sent straight to the front and tried to take them all the way. Sent to the post a red figure fav, she was nabbed in the closing stages. That followed a tough run outside the speed over the AP mile and with the return to her own age from this gate, looks to get every chance.

DYNAMIC DAN (7) was a debut winner over this trip when rolling forward to do it the tough way. In for the fight had bullets to fire in scoring a narrow victory. Taking good benefit and experience from that run, he looks set to secure a great run in transit from this gate to take a closing shot.

MY CHINA DOLL (5) broke the maiden tag 2 starts back after rolling the sleeves and taking advantage of the leader making an error. Runner-up last time, she will have her 1st look at the triangle and stays in contention.

TORQUE IN CONTROL (2) has placed in 3 of her 6 career starts, the latest when falling a whisker short of victory behind DYNAMIC DAN. From the gate she is right in the fight.

SELECTIONS: TYPHOON TORQUE (1), DYNAMIC DAN (7), MY CHINA DOLL (5), TORQUE IN CONTROL (2)
SUGGESTED BET: TYPHOON TORQUE (1) to win
