RACE TWO

MARKEY OH MARKEY (2) looks to get into this race nicely from this gate and with the early speed can look to find the pegs 1st. His closing panels here last start were strong after settling in the running line and just found them too strong his previous 2. He took them all the way in the Flashing Red 5 back and can make career start 100 a memorable one.

SOMEPARTYSOMEWHERE (6) is racing in great form and has been in the money at his past 7 in succession. Last week he was off at the 1800m to press on to the front and then tried to fight them off when holding the silver behind MAKO BANNER. With slick early moves he will be having a look and trying to fight them off again.

HOLY CAMP CLIVE (5) did his share of work in the run last week from gate 7 when pressing on to the breeze and dug in for the fight when only 2m from the winner. Only beaten a neck when probing for a gap 2 starts back, he will be right in the fight.

MAKO BANNER (10) received cover and the perfect trip thereafter last week and when asked for the effort finished over the top to grab SOMEPARTYSOMEWHERE. If the tempo is solid look for him swooping.

SELECTIONS: MARKEY OH MARKEY (2), SOMEPARTYSOMEWHERE (6), HOLY CAMP CLIVE (5), MAKO BANNER (10)
SUGGESTED BET: MARKEY OH MARKEY (2) to win

RACE THREE

OUR MILLWOOD MAIZIE (1) was buried away on the pegs here 2 starts back and was charging home to grab the silver behind REMEMBER THEM. The effort was solid last week despite being unsuited from a wide gate and snagged back. From this gate she will get the perfect trail and be ready to take the snipers shot.

ALPHA STYX (2) was shooting for the hat-trick here on Tues when he struck trouble in front and was retired out of the race. His previous win was a strong effort in front over this trip and getting to the pegs first he can look to dictate.

IAMBOOGIE (9) is racing in good touch from bad gates and was really charging home last week in making up a stack of ground. He can secure a nice trail through early from this gate and be ready to charge again.

REPLACED EYE (8) will be needing a slice of luck from the gate as he will likely be buried away in the run. He was hitting the line strongly last week when closing out off a 2nd line gate to finish 3.5m from LOCKTON LUCK and can flash late here.

SELECTIONS: OUR MILLWOOD MAIZIE (1), ALPHA STYX (2), IAMBOOGIE (9), REPLACED EYE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR MILLWOOD MAIZIE (1) to win

RACE FOUR

KEILOR MISTY (3)
looked to take them all the way last week but was given no peace in front and the tempo was too strong as she faded out in the race taken by MAJOR OCCASION. Her run the start prior in the open mares feature had merit and with this an easier task she can bounce back.

GLENFERRIE BABY (2) found running line cover from a 2nd line gate here last week over the 2138m but couldn’t run on  in the closing stages to finish 10m from the winner GRINVIL. This is her best gate for some time and with that advantage against her own sex can look to make the most of her chances.

DOLLY BRAVEHEART (4) angled to the pegs here on Tues when finishing mid-field behind the in-form NONE BETTOR. 2 starts back she was set alight early from gate 6 to find the pegs and she will have a look here.

ARCACHON (11) released the speed here on Tues and was flashing hard along the passing lane to grab the silver behind LILAC FLASH. She has no favours from the gate but if the tempo is too hot up front, she will be swooping hard.

SELECTIONS: KEILOR MISTY (3), GLENFERRIE BABY (2), DOLLY BRAVEHEART (4), ARCACHON (11)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

CODE BAILEY (4) made the most of his Derby disappointment with a tough win here last week over the 2138m trip. Finding the front with a steady early tempo, the last 1200m was strong and he was forced to dig in to hold on for the win. He can press on to the front again and will be looking to dictate all the way.

LIVING AGAIN (1) released from this gate 3 starts back over the mile and tried to challenge late when 2m from the winner HOLY CAMP CLIVE. Only 2m from the winner at his next start after working hard in the run, he can look for the cosy trip here and will be primed to take the snipers shot.

MAJOR OCCASION (5) was enormous in the Qld Oaks when doing all the work from gate 10 and then only grabbed right on the line. Last week in a mares qualifier she was too tough when scoring in good time from the breeze. This is a bigger ask for a 3YO filly taking on all comers, but can’t be ignored.

ANNIKA MAGIC (2) pressed on to the breeze here last start over the mile and was strong to the line when under 2m from the winner IMA MYSTERY GIRL.  From this gate she can settle handy and will be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: CODE BAILEY (4), LIVING AGAIN (1), MAJOR OCCASION (5), ANNIKA MAGIC (2)
SUGGESTED BET: CODE BAILEY (4) to win

RACE SIX

OUR UNCLE SAM (1)
was brave in the Sunshine Sprint when not really beaten far and followed that with a tough 3rd to OUR TRIPLE PLAY in the 4YO Championship. Last start in the Redcliffe Patrons Purse he was sent forward early from the 2nd line and did all the work in the run in running a sizzling last 800m around the triangle. From the gate he looks hard to stop.

REMEMBER THEM (2) is a great beginner that might look for the early shot and has the options to slide in behind the 1 if needed. Sent to the front from gate 5 last time he controlled in front and had 6m to spare on the line. Only 2m from LET IT RIDE 2 starts back, he is a danger from this alley.

OHOKA PUNTER (7) has the wide gate to overcome and should be getting closer to a fitness peak following 3 runs back from a long break. He struck trouble in the Blacks A Fake and was a game 3rd in the Sunshine Sprint. A win would ease some of the Carnival woes.

ALLELUIA (6) is racing in great style at present and after being buried away in the run in the Blacks A Fake flashed home to grab the bronze when he saw space. With even luck in the run a win would not be out of the question at his 100th Albion Park start.

SELECTIONS: OUR UNCLE SAM (1), REMEMBER THEM (2), OHOKA PUNTER (7), ALLELUIA (6)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR UNCLE SAM (1) to win

RACE SEVEN

KOTARE YORK (2) does his best work when able to set the tempo and from the gate he will get the conditions to suit. A winner here 5 starts back when dictating, his past 3 runs have been from unsuitable gates with the last 2 off the 2nd line. With the improved gate in an open contest he can cash-in.

FIOKI (3) returns to the Grant Dixon barn after previously being a member of the Black & White brigade. He has been meeting some handy performers at Menangle with the latest when buried in the run behind THE BACHELOR. Freshened since his last run, this is within reach.

IZZY WATT (9) didn’t have the cleanest passage last start and the start prior he may have been closer if seeing space sooner. He can enjoy a nice trail through in the early stages and will be ready to strike.

THREO (1) took the pocket trail last start and lost momentum before the passing lane behind a tiring leader which cost him all chance. From the gate he can get a perfect trip and is right in the fight in an open affair.

SELECTIONS: KOTARE YORK (2), FIOKI (3), IZZY WATT (9), THREO (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-3-9

RACE EIGHT

MISTER GUNSEN (12) has been mixing his form somewhat but his effort last week from this impost was a sound effort when finishing 12m from SPUD after working in the run. He went too hard in front here 3 starts back which followed a tough run in a race taken by TOUGH MONARCH. This looks a good bounce back event.

SOUTHERN ALPS (3) stepped to the front here last week and once in front was trying to fight them off when 7m from the in-form SPUD. That followed a mid-week win where he powered home strongly from the 30m tape. Back to the 2138m suits and from the front will give them something to catch.

CHEVALS RACER (2) should relish getting back to a front line, albeit it steps up in grade somewhat. He was flashing home when the race was all over at Redcliffe on Wednesday and 3 back was closing nicely under mobile conditions behind SPUD. He has podium claims.

JUSTABITNOISY (9) will find the drop back to the 2138m to his liking after his past 3 have been over the long trips including the 3157m marathon. He found the line strongly last start and will be making a closing play again here.

SELECTIONS: MISTER GUNSEN (12), SOUTHERN ALPS (3), CHEVALS RACER (2), JUSTABITNOISY (9)
SUGGESTED BET: MISTER GUNSEN (12) to win
