A major event on the national calendar for greyhound racing will take place on Thursday night across Australia kicking off with Brisbane’s Albion Park just after 8pm.

Each state will host their Croc Media Sprint and Distance finals in a schedule that has resulted in rolling national television coverage of greyhound racing on Sky 2, free of additional charge.

Viewers will be able to watch all the racing action as usual on Sky 1, however Sky 2 will have dedicated on-course television hosts at each location keeping greyhound racing fans up to date with each racing event as it happens as well as previews, reviews and expert tips.

Race Caller John Brasch will be on track at Albion Park to host the Queensland Finals with the distance final to be held around 8.07pm and the sprint at 8.28pm

The finals follow an exciting schedule of racing to determine the Queensland representatives in the finals. The Croc Media National Sprint and Distance finals will be at Sandown Park in Melbourne on Friday 24 August.

Selena Zammit trained greyhound Double Gee made a huge impression taking out the distance prelude last week. His winning time of 41.34 is the third fastest ever over the Albion Park 710m trip.

If he qualifies for Queensland it sets up a mouth-watering clash with the current record holder Tornado Tears who is on track to qualify for Victoria.

In a wonderful training performance Brett Hazelgrove took out both heats of the QLD sprint series with littermates All About Tiger and Call Me Ugo. Fastest qualifier Call Me Ugo is beginning faultlessly at the moment and has drawn favourably in Box 3 with slower beginners drawn on his inside. If he can lead again he will be hard to run down. The main dangers are Maurice Minor in box 2, Bubble Guppy in box 5, and All About Tiger in box 7.
