Trainer - Stuart Kendrick

"He's a lovely horse a really well bred gelding and he won very well first up over 1000 metres which didn't suit him."

"He backed that up with another nice run last time out where he was a bit unlucky not to win as well."

"We wanted to get him up to the mile and he did a good job, despite having plenty still to learn."

Jockey - Robbie Fradd

"He's a big long striding guy this horse and he was looking for the mile and a nice big track like Eagle Farm."

"He finished off well, there was a shdow there on the post and he kept putting in."

"He carries himself like a good horse and with a bit more racing he'll get there."

“He got to the front nice and easy today and without much pressure did it well.”

“We got up here yesterday morning and had a trot and a canter around after the jumpouts and looked really sweet then.”

“He’s a seasoned traveller he’s from Germany, so a trip to Queensland doesn’t bother him.”

“I’m not sure what Matt’s (Smith’s) plans are, but he’s got a big opinion of him he’ll pick out a nice race.”

Jockey – Matthew McGillivray

“He doesn’t bring a bad one (horse) up to Brisbane, you know you’re going to be on a good one with Matt (Smith).”

“He’s a nice horse lovely temperament and we got away with some nice sectionals out in front.”

“He’s a free rolling horse and he liked dictating terms and sprinted when asked too.”

Stable Rep – Hayley Nichols

“He had some nice credentials down south before he came to us, first up he just needed the run, but second up over the 1200 metres today was a good fit.”

“We wanted to take a bit of a sit and we were able to do that with the speed injected into the race.”

“The question mark was the 1200, but with the cosy ride he was able to peel and sprint.”

Jockey – Jimmy Orman

“First up he just needed a blow at the Sunshine Coast, today we wanted to give him the sit and hit the line strong and that’s what he did.”

“Third up I think he’ll be at his best, he’s a lovely looking horse and Kelly is doing a great job with him.”

Trainer – Chris Anderson

“She’s so tough, all heart this filly.”

“She’s been so brave throughout her preparation and I have to give a big thanks to Hannah Bayliss who is with the horse every day, takes her to the beach and does all the work.”

“She gets a little bit keen within herself, but Hannah was confident she would be up for today off the seven day back up.”

“I think she’s earned a trip to the paddock now, but she’s got a really bright future and will be excited to get her back and improved next prep.”

Jockey – Matthew McGillivray

“Superb training effort from Chris and Rob to get her back to back wins within seven days.”

“I was surprised how well Tisani Magic held on, it took us a while to get there and fortunately it looks like the best going in a couple off the rail and that’s where we were.”

Trainer – Desleigh Forster

“He travelled sweetly round the corner and once we cleared them the plan was to always get back to the inside which looks like the best going for the last furlong.”

“We thought he was the best horse in the race and Mark rode him like that, it was a pretty easy watch.”

“He didn’t handle the 1800 metres last start and we mapped out this race for him, it’s nice when a plan comes off.”

“He’ll possibly have one more run this prep and go for a spell, he’s got a future this horse.”

Jockey – Mark Du Plessis

“I was a little bit worried about getting too far back from the barrier, but they went hard early which was to our advantage.”

“I was worried when he got to the front early, I was waiting for something to come, but it was nice to be able to ease him down on the line.”

“I think the furthest he’ll go is the mile, but 1200-1400 metres is definitely his sweet spot and if we can get a nice trip like we did today he’ll be hard to beat next time up.”

Trainer – Barry Lockwood

“First up at Doomben I had the ear muffs on him just to settle him, but they ended up putting him to sleep.”

“There was a lot of merit in his last run at the Sunshine Coast, he looked like he was a bit fat in the yard and had to carry 60.5 kilos, so I’m sure he appreciated the drop today.”

“I’ve heard there’s been a massive amount bet on him today, hopefully they can sling some my way.”

Jockey – Matthew McGillivray

“It’s good to get a few winners on the board at the start of the season and hopefully this is a sign of a good year to come.”

“The race panned out a little bit differently out of the gates than I expected, I thought Whypeeo would be there early, but it worked out to our advantage in the box seat.”

Looks-Like-Elvis-1.jpg

Trainer – Bryan Dais

“He’s been a fantastic horse for us, I don’t have a great deal going around at the moment and he’s the clear star of the stable as it stands.”

“I told Nick don’t panic if you get a pair further back the track is playing close to the rail just find a spot there.”

“The speed was perfect for him he never really touched the bridle and picked up when Nick asked him to and looked like he had a bit in reserve.”

“he’ll have one more run here and then we’ll head to the Newcastle Cup.”

Jockey – Nick Keal

“He’s a very nice horse we just sat right behind the speed there and the run came on the corner.”

“Brian said don’t be to keen out of the gate because he’s got a good turn of foot and when I asked him he put them away for a fairly soft win.”

Kubis-1-1.jpg

Trainer – Rob Heathcote

“Chris and the staff have been doing a great job while I was enjoying myself in Alaska, very nice to come back and have a couple of winners.”

“We had plans to run him through the Winter Carnival, but with the strength of the horses we decided to tip him out on the back of his second placing at the Toowoomba Cup.”

“I knew the staying series was coming up and we’ll just step him up from 1600 to 1800 to 2000 as he progresses through the prep.”

Jockey – Dale Smith

“We all know how tough this horse is once he gets his head in front you’re not going to get passed him.”

“I felt Sovereign Nation in the pocket and made sure I shut the gap and didn’t let him get the momentum.”

“His whole attitude and demeanour is different this time round, he was a good horse last prep, but I think he’ll really take it to the next level when he gets up to his preferred distance.”

Sienna-Rose-1-1.jpg

Trainer – Steven O’Dea

“She (Steph Thornton) came up for the experience and has ridden a bit of work for us the last couple of weeks and she’s going to come on loan with me for three months which is exciting for both of us.”

“Watching the race I was sick to about the 500, I thought we were going to track the widest, but Steph just sat and waited and the way the race was run she was able to come down the middle.”

“She’s such a tough little filly she really deserves that, with her racing pattern I wasn’t confident at all, but she was impressive.”

Jockey – Steph Thornton

“Looking at how the track has played today it wasn’t going to be an easy task, but I had the horse underneath me and when I brought her out three wide and gave her a little squeeze we went straight by.”

“She might be little, but she’s got a big heart and she tries, for a small horse she’s got a huge motor.”

“I’m lucky to be up from Victoria and have my first winner in Brisbane off my back and really appreciate the opportunity Steven has given me.”
