A bracelet made from the tail of ill-fated galloper Cylinder Beach has proven a lucky charm for trainer Desleigh Forster.

Forster won last year’s Listed Bernborough Handicap at Doomben with her former favourite horse Cylinder Beach before veteran Someday gave her back-to-back wins in the 1600-metre feature at Doomben on Saturday.

Cylinder Beach was one of Queensland’s top gallopers during his career before he was euthanased after being injured in the Group 2 P J O’Shea Stakes at Doomben during the Brisbane winter carnival.

Forster was confident Someday was better than an outside hope in the Bernborough after blaming some of his recent defeats on poor rides.

Someday was ridden by Victorian jockey Michael Walker and stormed home to record his ninth career win with a decisive 1-1/2 lengths margin over runner-up Ruettiger.

The Rob Heathcote-trained Hopfgarten managed to place for the second successive year finishing a further 1-1/4 lengths away, third.

“I told Michael to forget about some of his previous runs,” Forster said.

“I was a bit shattered the track came up hard and I would have preferred it softer.”

Forster said she was presented with a bracelet as a Christmas present from her staff last week and it’s proven to be her lucky charm.

“I’ve had three winners and two thirds and haven’t taken it off,” she said.

“It’s made from the tail hair from Cylinder Beach.”

Meanwhile French import Singing dented the hopes of runners chasing a wildcard into the Magic Millions Trophy with a dashing all the way win in the Shoot Out Quality (2200m).

Singing, ridden by Jeff Lloyd, made his opposition look second rate with a commanding 3-1/4 length win over Ingeegoodbe.

Singing was bought by Australian Bloodstock as a Cups horse after starting his career in France and has now won twice for Newcastle trainer Kris Lees in 10 Australian starts.

In a pre-race sensation Victorian stayer and pre-race favourite Night’s Watch was a late scratching after failing to arrive on course in time.

Trainer Darren Weir sent Night’s Watch to Brisbane by plane but a mix-up with starting times meant he arrived on track 22 minutes before the scheduled start of the race.

Trainer Matt Dunn collected a winning double when Don’tbabylon claimed the Listed Nudgee Stakes (1200m).

Don’tbabylon‘s win earned him a wildcard entry into the $1 million Magic Millions Fillies & Mares (1300m) at the Gold Coat on January 13.

Dunn earlier won The Buffering with classy sprinter Care To Think.
