RACE TWO

SMART AS CAMM BE (2) makes her anticipated return after a brilliant 2YO season that returned 5 victories and saw her crowned the Qld 2YO of the year. Last seen in a tough G1 Triad victory, she has been to the trials twice to blow out the cobwebs with the 2nd a nice hit-out. Her class can prevail.

TUAPEKA LIGHT (6) will take great benefit from her run here last week when making her Qld debut and stepping out for the 1st time in 3 months. Finding 1x1 cover from gate 4 she hit the line strongly in some strong closing fractions to claim a stylish victory. That was a maiden breaking win but there looks more in store.

ESCALERA (8) will strip fitter following his 1st up run here last start. Sent to the breeze when the pace slackened mid-race, it was only the finishing power of TUAPEKA LIGHT that he couldn’t hold off. The gate hurts in this.

ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (5) is worth following and a win is not far away for him in the right race. Back in the main draw now following a barrier infringement he charged home last start and has place claims in this.

SELECTIONS: SMART AS CAMM BE (2), TUAPEKA LIGHT (6), ESCALERA (8), ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (5)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE THREE

ALWAYS AT NIGHT (1) is still an Albion Park maiden following 14 attempts but finds a race and the right alley here where he can look to change those figures. Last start at Redcliffe he was back in the pack and was closing out in good order to finish mid-field. Only beaten 4m here 2 starts back he can claim an open contest.

EPIRUS BOY (2) was 1st to the pegs before handing over at Redcliffe last start and from the pocket trail was 5m in arrears of the winner to claim the bronze. This is no harder than what he has been facing and settling handy from this alley will see him right in the fight.

BRONZE ECSTASY (8) was hitting the line in good style here 2 starts back when 3m from the winner WHERES THE SPIRIT and then on Fri wasn’t far away from ONLY IN ROME. With early options as the lone 2nd line runner he can feature.

CAESARS ASTRUM (3) struck some trouble in the run last start from the 2nd line and that had followed a luckless run from gate 5 where she couldn’t land early position. With an improved gate she can be sharper here.

SELECTIONS: ALWAYS AT NIGHT (1), EPIRUS BOY (2), BRONZE ECSTASY (8), CAESARS ASTRUM (3)
SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS AT NIGHT (1) to win

RACE FOUR

INNOCENT CROCKER (2)
was making her Qld debut here last week from gate 7 where she was able to slide back early to find position and then swoop home hard in nice style to claim the prize. This will be a sterner test but with wins in 2 of her past 3 starts and from the good gate, she can take the next step.

COREY WILLIAM (5) was looking to claim a hat-trick of wins last start after a pair of slick all the way efforts with the 2nd of those in a career best win rate. Starting from gate 2 he was never comfortable and couldn’t muster the early speed and ultimately broke gait. At his best he can lead and win.

TOM ME GUN (8) is in great touch and would likely be an on-top selection in this from any other gate. Likely to be buried away he will need plenty of luck but if able to see space with track to work with, he can be rattling home.

LUCIFERS LEGEND (6) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts after being grabbed in each when looking to lead throughout. Grabbed up the passing lane and beaten a half-head he was beaten a flared nostril last start. He has claims again here.

SELECTIONS: INNOCENT CROCKER (2), COREY WILLIAM (5), TOM ME GUN (8), LUCIFERS LEGEND (6)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2-5-6-8

RACE FIVE

PARAVANI (9) had little trouble in holding the front off gate 1 last start and once in control was able to make it 3 wins in 4 starts since arriving from NZ. All 3 wins he has been able to lead throughout with the other run a 12m 6th to FAME ASSURED after landing a 2nd line gate. He will be sweating on landing leaders back and if able to secure that spot he can descend late to take this.

PACIFIC DRUMS (6) has been freshened since his last appearance when taking on the Rising Stars final and not getting the cleanest run in transit and not finishing too far from the winner FAME ASSURED. Beaten 6m in the heats of that series behind the eventual final winner, he has good early speed and moving 1 spot closer can take an early shot.

JUST DEAL IT (3) found the 1x1 trail last start over the mile and making a closing charge she loomed up and was only knocked out by the swooping INNOCENT CROCKER. Still honing her craft after just 5 career starts, she will be in for the fight again here.

INVITE ONLY (1) took on a mares qualifier 2 starts back and after doing some early work was finding the line in good order when 5m from the winner ROCKNROLL EMMA. Claiming the silver on Fri when again finishing strongly, she can look to dictate.

SELECTIONS:
PARAVANI (9), PACIFIC DRUMS (6),  JUST DEAL IT (3), INVITE ONLY (1)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SIX

CHAPTER ONE (4)
was snagged back from gate 6 last start and was a long way back when trying to find the cheap runs but was always facing a task with the leader and winner getting home in 55.2. Given a torrid trip 2 starts back from gate 7 and fading out, he should appreciate this line-up and the improved gate and can look to capitalise.

OUTLAW FELLA (9) found the line in great order last start after angled to the pegs from gate 11 and running up behind them in the closing stages. That followed a credible 3rd when chasing hard from gate 12 behind BUNDABURRA and back to a conditioned line-up can give this a big shake.

GASMONKEY (6) cut the breeze over the mile here 2 starts back after rolling forward from gate 4 and was in for the fight, holding on for 2nd behind SPIKE BROMAC in a slick 1.52.6 mile. On the back-up from Sat night, he can do the work and is in the mix.

SUBTLE DELIGHT (3) will take further benefit from his latest outing when 2nd up from a break. He didn’t have the cleanest run in transit but was still able to find the line strongly and was only 3m from the winner MR KALYPSO. He won’t be far away here.

SELECTIONS: CHAPTER ONE (4), OUTLAW FELLA (9), GASMONKEY (6), SUBTLE DELIGHT (3)
SUGGESTED BET: CHAPTER ONE (4) to win

RACE SEVEN

THE BOYS GNP (9) was snagged back from gate 6 over the 2138m trip last start before finding the line in good style to claim the silver behind the in-form TOM ME GUN who was dictating in front. Not suited when chasing behind LINCOLN ROAD in a qualifier 2 starts back, he can get the right trip here and look to swoop late.

NEWPORT DREAMZ (1) started from the 2nd line over the mile last start and was sent to the breeze when the pace slackened at the 1000m. Trying to fight on he faded late to finish mid-field. He was hitting the line strongly over this trip 2 starts back when beaten a head and with the improved gate will be gripping on.

RUN BOY RUN (10) makes his Qld and Aus debut for Chantal Turpin and arrives with form behind some handy Kiwi performers including a last start 2nd back in December. Opening the pipes in preparation with a nice trial, if forward enough this is well within reach.

SPRING CAMPAIGN (7) should take good benefit from his run here last week when he was 1st up in 4 months without a trial. Angled to the pegs in transit he was locked away but was doing his best work in the closing stages. The wide gate doesn’t help, but he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: THE BOYS GNP (9), NEWPORT DREAMZ (1) , RUN BOY RUN (10), SPRING CAMPAIGN (7)
SUGGESTED BET: THE BOYS GNP (9) each-way
