RACE TWO

UNKNOWN SON (3) steps out in Qld for the 1st time and arrives with a win 2 starts back at Geelong when finishing best over the 2100m mobile. Trialling in smart fashion since arriving against some seasoned trotters, the big query is his manners from the tapes as he faces them for the 1st time under race conditions.

ONE MUSCLE HILL (9) lost his chance last start at Kilcoy when striking trouble soon after the start. Over this trip from a 30m tape 2 starts back, he was working home in nice order to grab the bronze behind KYVALLEY TINMAN. Fitter again following 4 runs back from a break, he can throw it down.

EYRE I GO (10) was safely away and off around them early from the 50m impost last start and had too many arrows in the quiver to claim a 4m victory. Off the strength of that win, he is right in the fight.

DAY TOURER (2) is working back to some better form and last start held on for the bronze after releasing the speed and chasing home behind THE REAPER. With super manners, he will be in the right position to feature.

SELECTIONS: UNKNOWN SON (3), ONE MUSCLE HILL (9), EYRE I GO (10), DAY TOURER (2)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE THREE

COPPICE (8)
will have the early options as the lone 2nd line runner and has been hitting some good areas of late with a win and a pair of 2nds in his past 5 outings. Runner-up from the pocket trail to COOL AND CALCULATING last start, he did it the tough way the start prior. With even luck, this looks within reach.

HIGH ON MONTANA (5) has been beaten by 2nd line barriers at his past 2 starts, the latest when hitting the line smartly when within 4m of the winner. 3 runs back he took on a handy field in a Redcliffe Final and after starting from inside the 2nd line, could not go with them late. This looks more suitable.

BEEJAYS DELIGHT (3) was pinned down on the pegs last start and never really made a threat with how the race panned out. Finishing over the top here 3 starts back, he can be close enough to strike.

SIR BULSKI (4) backs up from Tuesday and will strip fitter for the outing when 2nd up from a break. Claiming the bronze after starting from the 2nd line over the 2138m when resuming, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: COPPICE (8), HIGH ON MONTANA (5), BEEJAYS DELIGHT (3), SIR BULSKI (4)
SUGGESTED BET: COPPICE (8) to win

RACE FOUR

ROYAL OBSESSION (5) has placed in 3 of his past 4 starts, the latest when easing from gate 7 over the mile before working home in smart order to be 4m from the winner COOL AND CALCULATING. Using the passing lane the start prior for the bronze at Redcliffe, finding position cheaply without overcooking it in the run can see him arrive.

LITTLELIONELJAMES (2) fired off the arm from this same gate 4 runs back and after a slick opening panel, eased it off before dialling it back up through the 3rd split. Making a winning break he held on for a new PB and victory by 7m. Kept fresh since his last start when landing gate 7, he will be the bunny.

KIAMASROSIE (8) has started from outside the front line at her past 2 starts at Redcliffe resulting from a gate break over this trip 3 runs back. With options from the start, she has podium claims.

NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (4) tackled a mares qualifier last start and was soon buried in the run and never really challenged. Beaten by the 2nd line on the grass the start prior, she is a place chance.

SELECTIONS: ROYAL OBSESSION (5), LITTLELIONELJAMES (2), KIAMASROSIE (8), NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (4)
SUGGESTED BET: ROYAL OBSESSION (5) to win

RACE FIVE

MAGGIE (7)
has no favours from the wide gate but has been going well enough since arriving in Qld to make a solid play for supremacy. Sent forward from gate 6 last start over this trip, she was in for the fight and had the will to arrive for a half-neck win. Game in defeat the start prior at Kilcoy, she can overcome the alley.

PEGGY STARDUST (1) fired off the arm last start and was trying to take them all the way when gunned down late to just miss the money. Dictating to an easy 11m victory at The Triangle the start prior, that had followed a close 2nd over the less preferred 2138m trip. She will have them chasing.

MAYWYN TROUBADOR (2) found his race here 3 runs back and pulled clear to a big victory. Placed in both runs since, the latest when only a half-neck away. From the gate he can be right in the fight.

RANCHO MAN (8) eased from gate 6 last start when back in the pack was sound to the line behind BETTERTHANLEGO. Forced to retreat from a similar alley the start prior, the cosy trip suits here and he can be ready to strike.

SELECTIONS: MAGGIE (7), RANCHO MAN (8), MAYWYN TROUBADOR (2), PEGGY STARDUST (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-7-8

RACE SIX

BIG WHEELS (9)
returns to kick off his 3YO term and a NSW Derby trip could be in the pipeline for the talented gelding. A last start winner when leading throughout in a 2YO feature in the Summer Carnival, he was not asked for much in a recent trial. A winner of 4 of his past 5 starts including the G1 Triad Final, his class can overcome the sticky alley.

COOL AND CALCULATING (1) was 2nd up in Qld last start and from gate 6 speared across the field to take control and once in front had too much in reserve to claim the prize. Only beaten a neck when 1st up, she has the gate to take charge here and if able to pinch a panel, might just make it a contest for the chasers to pick her up.

CAPTAINS PICK (2) was enormous in defeat here last start when unable to secure a forward position was forced to retreat before charging home in the closing stages. He is ready to knock one off.

SOMEGIRLSOMEWHERE (8) was locked away from this alley last start and with the leader and winner breaking open the field, she was able to grab a midfield finish. With the easy trip she can join in.

SELECTIONS: BIG WHEELS (9), COOL AND CALCULATING (1), CAPTAINS PICK (2), SOMEGIRLSOMEWHERE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-8-9

RACE SEVEN

Tricky race with the barriers making it tough to dissect how the race could unfold. Add to that the class runner of the field in TIZ A SIZZLER (6) is 1st up from a spell to add another layer of intrigue. Returning in December when down the line from gate 12 in the JC McMullen, he has trialled in good order and is worth the risk fresh.

FRANCO HAMPTON (8) has no favours from this alley and will need a slice of luck to find the open road when needed to make his challenge. Not entirely suited on The Triangle last start when midfield to LA PLAYER, his win from the front here 4 runs back was strong. If the gaps arrive in time, he can join in.

PROSECUTION WITNESS (3) wilted last start over the mile after working to the breeze through a 56.4 opening 800m. Placed his previous 3 starts including a head 2nd to MACHS MARETA, he can bounce back here.

TACT BESS (9) will be further tightened from her latest outing when 2nd up from a break. Too far back at Redcliffe to make a challenge against the tempo, she was strong to the line when 1st up. Look for her late.

SELECTIONS: TIZ A SIZZLER (6), FRANCO HAMPTON (8), PROSECUTION WITNESS (3), TACT BESS (9)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE EIGHT

LUCKY UNLUCKY (2)
overcame the 2nd line at Redcliffe last start when sent around the field early to face the breeze and was able to grind out a narrow victory with a smart closing 800m split. Luckless here 2 starts back when pinned down on the pylons and too far back to challenge, he gets his chance from this alley.

KEY LARGO (10) shoots for a hat-trick of wins after successive wins at the mile. Both of those victories have been when able to lead all the way, the latest a strong effort in Saturday night company when setting a new 1.53.5 PB. In great touch, the barrier thwarts the chance of the threepeat.

CLARKEY (3) eased from gate 7 here last week and was settled back in the pack when making some nice closing metres behind ICE PICK ANGIE. Only 4m away the start prior, he can be chiming in.

COLONEL JOY (5) eased from this gate last start to find position and was sound to the line when chasing BOHANNAN. 3rd when within 5m of KINGOFTHESTARS 3 runs back, he can join in here.

SELECTIONS: LUCKY UNLUCKY (2), KEY LARGO (10), CLARKEY (3), COLONEL JOY (5)
SUGGESTED BET: LUCKY UNLUCKY (2) to win

RACE NINE

IDEAL TIGER (2)
was beaten by gate 11 last start when settled near the rear over the 2138m and just too far back as the race favoured those near the front end. Grabbing the bronze, the start prior when he was held up when needing space, he has the gate to be near the actions and gets his chance to capitalise.

TEARAWAY DIAMOND (4) pressed forward from the five-hole last start to take control over the mile. Once in charge, he was never in danger to claim an effortless victory. Beaten by the inside 2nd line alley the start prior, he was charging home here 3 starts back and from this alley will be throwing it down hard.

MIND OF MY OWN (5) has been hitting some nice areas since returning from a spell and take her place here with a top-3 at her past 5 in succession. 2nd to GASMONKEY last start when shooting for a hat-trick of wins, she can chime in again.

MACHIN OUT (9) was obliged to do it the tough way last start when sent forward from outside the front line at Redcliffe to race first over. Runner-up here 3 starts back, he can follow through early to feature here.

SELECTIONS: IDEAL TIGER (2), TEARAWAY DIAMOND (4), MIND OF MY OWN (5), MACHIN OUT (9)
SUGGESTED BET: IDEAL TIGER (2) to win
