Racing Queensland was saddened to hear the passing of respected horseman Frank McNabb recently.

McNabb was a skilled trainer that enjoyed considerable success during the late 1990’s along with his regular reinsman Trent Sullivan.

Several topline performers from his Tweed Heads base donned his familiar silks including the richly talented Journeys End.

McNabb ventured to Auckland in 1999 with Journeys End to participate in the Inter Dominion series won by Our Sir Vancelot.

Starting in the consolation, he finished 6th behind Happy Asset.

During his New Zealand stay, he was based with Pukekohe horseman Dave McGowan and their friendship blossomed.

Journeys End completed the open class summer double when triumphant in both the 1998 Christmas and Lord Mayors Cup at Albion Park.

The Fortitude Hanover gelding was placed third in the 1999 Sunshine Sprint behind Devils Dream and Kyema Kid.

Journeys End won 25 races and banked more than $100,000.

Other notable performers for McNabb included Suncola (23 wins - $113k), Sunvale (15 wins - $60k) and Suncove (16 wins - $48k) among others.

Racing Queensland offers its deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
