Punter's Guide to Thoroughbred Tracks
Racing Queensland wishes to extend its deepest sympathies to the family of Queensland training stalwart Barry Miller, who has died aged 77.
Mr Miller is best remembered for training Queensland champion of the early 2000s, Show A Heart.
The Queensland-bred stallion’s Group 1 wins included a Stradbroke Handicap, TJ Smith (now JJ Atkins), Caulfield Guineas and Toorak Handicap.
Mr Miller moved to Brisbane from Cunnamulla in the 1970s and quickly established himself as one of Queensland’s most prominent trainers.
Racing Queensland CEO Brendan Parnell said Mr Miller was a leading example for grassroots participants, after making the transition from country trainer to multiple Group 1 winner.
“On behalf of Chairman Steve Wilson, myself and all at Racing Queensland I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Barry’s wife, Edna, his children and grandchildren,” Mr Parnell said.
Mr Miller also prepared stakes-winning horses such as Forest Jim, Romanza, Big Rhumba, Marcelo, Bold Dan, Parotto, Miss Sandman, Metallic Monarch, Madam Zoffany and Happy in Red.
