Team Snowden’s hopes of a second Magic Millions Classic was boosted when favourite Aim drew perfectly for the $2 million feature at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

TAB markets remained relatively unchanged after Tuesday’s barrier draw on the Gold Coast when unbeaten colt Aim drew barrier two, keeping his place at the head of pre-post betting at $5.50.

Peter Snowden, who trains in partnership with son Paul, won the Magic Millions Classic with Capitalist in 2016.

Snowden, who has dominated two-year-old features on the Australian calendar this season, has four runners in this year’s Magic Millions Classic.

As well as Aim, Team Snowden has King’s Legacy, (barrier 8), Nitrous (11) and Stellar Pauline who sneaked into the final field and will jump from gate 15.

Aim will be ridden by Tommy Berry who is chasing his third Magic Millions Classic after winning aboard Karuta Queen (2011) and Driefontein (2012).

Trainer Gai Waterhouse’s hopes of a fifth Magic Millions Classic also soared when second favourite Farnan drew ideally in barrier five.

Waterhouse trains in partnership with Adrian Bott and last won the Magic Millions Classic with Driefontein.

Her previous winners were Dance Hero (2004), Excellerator (2001) and Assertive Lad (2000).

Farnan produced a sensational exhibition gallop between races at the Gold Coast last Saturday and is also unbeaten in his two starts.

The son of Not A Single Doubt, who won last month’s Listed Wyong Magic Millions at his last start, is on the second line of betting at $7.50 and will be ridden by Tim Clark.

Another training partnership, David Eustace and Ciaron Maher are hoping to go one better this year with their two chances Rathlin, (barrier 19) and Away Game who drew gate 14.

The Eustace and Maher partnership ran second with Dubious in last year’s Magic Millions Classic won by Godolphin’s Exhilarates.

Godolphin’s hopes of a repeat success slumped when the James Cummings-trained Conceited drew  17.

Maher was later delighted when Dubious drew barrier 10 on the inside of favourite Alligator Blood who will jump from gate 11 in the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m).

“I’m very happy with the draw for Dubious especially drawing inside Alligator Blood,” Maher said.

“Hopefully he’ll be able to hold on to the coat tails of the favourite and he’ll take us into the race.

“He was narrowly beaten in the Magic Millions Classic last year so hopefully he can go one better this time.”
