RACE TWO

SCOTCH EN ICE (7) started fav here last time out and when looming up copped the backwash of a scrimmage to end his chances. Working home in nice order the start prior after retreating from gate 6, he was doing his best work after the leader had pinched the prize. Despite the tough gate once again, he gets his chance to atone.

SUNNY RICE (1) was obliged to work hard outside the leader last start and after the tough trip was then nearly on the deck when the leader shifted up the track and cost her any chance. Still only 8m in arrears, she will be fitter for the run after being 1st up and with the good gate can challenge.

NICKS PICK (6) franked the performance in a pair of trials in readiness for his race return when breaking the maiden tag last start. Despite doing some early work to secure position, he still had bullets to fire when claiming the win. The gate stings but with fitness and confidence, he is in the mix.

BLUE SHARD (10) is never far from the action and last start was eased to secure position from gate 5. With all the power on up front, he chased gamely to a mid-field finish. Runner-up his previous 4 in succession, he can be chiming in late here.

SELECTIONS: SCOTCH EN ICE (7), SUNNY RICE (1), NICKS PICK (6), BLUE SHARD (10)
SUGGESTED BET: SCOTCH EN ICE (7) to win

RACE THREE

After success with STRADDIE and CHEVRONS REWARD in recent weeks, PORTALEGRE (3) is the latest sent to Charlie Cini from the Clayton Harmey stable. Fading last start at Newcastle after setting the tempo over the mile, his previous 2 outings at Menangle are enough to keep him in the spotlight for this assignment.

NIKITARAS (5) was snagged back to the rear from gate 7 last start before catching the eye as he attacked the line with stoutly when mid-field behind NIMAH FRANCO. Not that far from JEROSH the start prior at Redcliffe, finding position cheaply can see him throw down the challenge in this.

OUR BALOU (6) will take good benefit from his latest offering when returning from a freshen. Starting in some of the stringer events over the Carnival back in December, he can join in here.

RECIPE FOR DREAMING (1) could have been closer on Saturday night at Redcliffe if the gaps opened when needed. 3m away in 3rd here 2 starts back, he has the gate and the speed to be a player in this.

SELECTIONS: PORTALEGRE (3), NIKITARAS (5), OUR BALOU (6), RECIPE FOR DREAMING (1)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

KINGOFTHESTARS (5) bounced back to winning form last start when putting the power on from the breeze to claim a strong win over the 2138m trip. Finding the line in nice order the start prior after retreating from gate 7 over the mile, this is no harder than his last start win, and he can take it up again.

SAM IS PERFECTION (8) started from this alley over the mile last start and with the perfect run-in transit made the closing shot a winning one up the passing lane. Not that far from MISTER DONALD the start prior when he did not get the smoothest passage, he has the 2nd line options to challenge.

CLARRY (2) was returning from a spell last start when easing from gate 4 to find position. With all the power on up front, he was attacking the line in stylish order the closing stages. From the gate, he is in the mix.

COLONEL JOY (1) was asked to do it the tough way in Saturday night at Redcliffe and responded to the request when holding on for the silver behind ROCKNROLL ICON. Only a head away 3 starts back, the gate is a big plus here.

SELECTIONS: KINGOFTHESTARS (5), SAM IS PERFECTION (8), CLARRY (2), COLONEL JOY (1)
SUGGESTED BET: KINGOFTHESTARS (5) to win

RACE FIVE

SMITHSTARS LEXUS (7)
drops back to the claiming ranks and lands another stiff gate after facing an onslaught of wide barriers in recent outings. Snagged back to the rear last start at Redcliffe, he was wide off the track when trying to work into the contest. Chasing behind SPEEDY DOMINIC the start prior, he is up to the task with the small field in his favour.

CHANTREY (3) made the most of gate 1 last start and from the front over the mile was able to keep the speed on all the way in claiming a 3m victory. Only a neck away the start prior when just losing momentum at a key stage behind a tiring leader, he will ensure the tempo is solid in this.

INTRANSIT (2) eased from gate 6 to find position here 2 runs back and making a sweeping challenge had the bullets to hit the target in the closing battle. Not far away last start, he can feature again.

HOLY CAMP CLIVE (1) will strip fitter from his latest appearance when resuming from a spell. Eased back to the poles from gate 5, he was sound to the line when 7m in arrears. From the gate, he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: SMITHSTARS LEXUS (7), CHANTREY (3), INTRANSIT (2), HOLY CAMP CLIVE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: SMITHSTARS LEXUS (7) to win

RACE SIX

BOOMCHUCKALUCKA (6)
returned from a freshen last week when sent to the front from gate 3 and once in control was never in danger when cruising home to a slick win with 5m to spare. 2 from 2 here at the track, he showed he is on an upward spiral, last week making it 2 wins from his 9 career starts.

BLOOD MONEY (7) joined the Wendy Turnbull stable and after returning from a spell has landed 4 wins in 7 outings, the past 3 in succession. He heads to The Creek fresh, last seen back in November when too strong from a wide gate. That completed a hat-trick of wins and despite another wide gate, he cannot be discounted.

BONDI SHAKE (3) has hit the board at his past 5 in succession, the latest when grabbing the silver behind KOTARE ELITE when only beaten a head- beaten that same margin his past 2 starts. From the good alley he can feature once again.

SWEET APPEAL (1) will be having just her 3rd career start and the 1st since joining the in-form Jack Butler barn. With a pair of impressive trials in readiness for her 1st outing, she has the gate to be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: BOOMCHUCKALUCKA (6), BLOOD MONEY (7), BONDI SHAKE (3), SWEET APPEAL (1)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE SEVEN

MAJOR FERNCO (7) has been kept fresh since his last appearance when within 2m of the in-form STRADDIE. That was in the Bill Dixon where he was buried away on the pegs and attacked the line with gusto in the closing stages. Solid the start prior over his less preferred 2138m trip behind GOVERNOR JUJON, he can return in style.

ICE PICK ANGIE (1) has been in nice touch for the Cross stable and heads North with successive Penrith wins next to her name. Finishing best after tucking in for the trail last start, she stopped the clock in a blistering time around the small track. Landing all the options from the gate, she will throw down a serious challenge.

NIMAH FRANCO (10) goes in search of a hat-trick of victories after wins at the 2138m and the 1660m at her past 2 starts and both when out in front. Reliant on a strong tempo that does look on offer, she can chime in.

COPPERFIELD (2) has faced the starter twice since returning from a break, the latest when doing some early work prior to receiving cover when not that far from NIMAH FRANCO. He can be thereabouts here.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR FERNCO (7), ICE PICK ANGIE (1), NIMAH FRANCO (10), COPPERFIELD (2)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR FERNCO (7) to win
