The race to secure a share in $6000 worth of bonuses comes to a head at the Cairns Jockey Club today, with the final leg of the Magic Millions FNQ Up and Coming Stayers Series (Race 5 - 3.22pm).
Held over eight race meetings across the past three months, the points-based series awards bonuses to the owners and trainers who accrue the most points.
The owners of the horse that has accrued the most points over the series will receive $4000 , the trainer that has accrued the most points over the series will receive $2000 from Magic Millions
The jockey that has accrued the most points will receive a jockey whip from the Cairns Jockey Club
This year's final leg will be a BM 70 over the Cup distance of 2100m, with a number of horses and trainers still in the running to pick up the cash.
Beach Head heads up the points tally for horses (7pts) and can wrap up the series win with a minor placing. Barwon and Cashed Up Bully (5pts) would need to win to be any chance of overtaking Beach Head.
John Manzelmann (6pts) waited until the last race in 2017 to claim the trainer's bonus, and will have two chances to go back-to-back today with Friskier and Captains Way.
The trainer to catch is Sharlee D'Avila, who sits on seven points, having put runs on the board in four of the seven heats with Beach Head.
Bonnie Thomson and Nor Yadi head the Jockeys challenge on six points apiece.
