RACE TWO

GOONLY (1) did his share of work over the 2138m last start after being sent forward from a 2nd line gate. Looming up in the stretch, he went within a half-neck of victory behind CRUZ. Fitter again from the run after being 2nd up from a break, he can get the perfect trip here and be ready to strike.

KETUT (8) loves the pegs and with the speed on can rattle home when saved for a closing sprint. That pattern worked to perfection last start, following the leader from this same gate and sprinting hard up the stretch to claim the win running away from them. He will be coiled, waiting for the gaps.

CHANTREY (2) has produced 2 sharp performances since being claimed 3 starts back, including a 1st up win when unleashing a power running display over the mile from gate 7. Charging home from gate 12 last start, he can fire the early shots here.

OUR MAJOR DAY (4) has been screaming out for a gate and while he does get it this time around, his early positioning will be key here. His runs have been better than the returns from bad gates and he can’t be dismissed.

SELECTIONS: GOONLY (1), KETUT (8), CHANTREY (2), OUR MAJOR DAY (4)
SUGGESTED BET: GOONLY (1) to win

RACE THREE

She might have drawn poorly here but the return to mares only company might be enough for ELENIARK (7) to capitalise. Locked away on the pegs last start in the Wondais Mate, she found the line in good style when not far away. A smart winner when closing strongly here 3 starts back, she is worth the chance.

DARKERSHADEOFPALE (1) returns to Qld and will strip fitter following 1 run back from a break. Taking on the Frith Stakes last start, she found the pocket trail from gate 4 when finishing 6m from the winner REDBANK ADDI. A winner here last campaign from gate 7, she maps for a great trip.

ROCKNROLL EMMA (8) started from gate 10 last start in a mid-week event and was hitting the line in good order as FAME ASSURED dictated from the breeze. A tough winner from the breeze 3 starts back, she will get the right trip here.

ELLE YEAH (4) worked hard in the run here on Tues from this same gate and only faded in the closing stages when 8m from the winner. In for the fight here 2 starts back, she can be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: ELENIARK (7), DARKERSHADEOFPALE (1), ROCKNROLL EMMA (8), ELLE YEAH (4)
SUGGESTED BET: ELENIARK (7) to win

RACE FOUR

LEOS BEST (9)
should be approaching a fitness peak now after a half-dozen starts since returning from a lengthy lay-off. He found the line strongly over the 1780m at Redcliffe 3 starts back and followed that with a 3rd when just too far back. Luckless last start, the hot early tempo can suit him here.

BEAVER (3) settled in the running line from a 2ndline gate last start over this trip but couldn’t finish it off. The 20m was a tough mark in the stand start of the Flashing Red the star prior, while his win over this trip from back in the pack 3 starts back, suggests in this company he can challenge.

LITTLE RASCAL (8) released the front last start over the Menangle mile and if seeing space when needed, may have finished closer than the 2m margin from COURTSINSESSION. He will need a slice of luck from this alley, but of the gaps arrive he will sprint hard.

LINCOLN ROAD (4) was tough in the breeze of the mile here 2 starts back when finishing within 4m of COLT THIRTY ONE. Not suited against the tempo last start when buried away from gate 12, he can settle handy here and has hopes.

SELECTIONS: LEOS BEST (9), BEAVER (3), LITTLE RASCAL (8), LINCOLN ROAD (4)
SUGGESTED BET: LEOS BEST (9) each-way

RACE FIVE

The Mr Feelgood was billed as the battle between COLT THIRTY ONE (11) and NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (5) here on Jun 15. That turned into a knock-out to the Colt as the Hustler was put to sleep at the 400m. Since that match-up, C31 went on the dictate in front to claim the Wondais Mate and set a new benchmark for 4YO’s over the mile here at Albion Park. He will need to be at his best

Meanwhile the HUSTLER made a mess of the start in the Redcliffe Cup before producing some smart closing sectionals, then his closing panels in the Wondais Mate were scintillating. The gate advantage falls his way here and if finding the front, he will be looking to parry the blows of the attackers.

CULLENBURN (3) makes his Qld debut and arrives after a solid effort in defeat last time out over the Menangle 2300m trip. Finding the front from gate 10, he was grabbed in the closing stages. A smart winner over the same trip the start prior, he looks set to land the 1st blow here by finding the pegs.

CLINTAL DO (4) was a deserved winner of the stand start Redcliffe Cup last start, stepping cleanly to land in the trail and then wearing down the leader OHOKA PUNTER to claim the win. With another good gate, he can launch a challenge if the gaps arrive with track to work with.

SELECTIONS: COLT THIRTY ONE (11), NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (5), CULLENBURN (3), CLINTAL DO (4)
SUGGESTED BET: CLINTAL DO (4) to place

RACE SIX

PACIFIC DRUMS (6)
was responsible for a big effort last week when sent around to the breeze in the early stages, he was then in for the fight and only went under a half-head in a blanket finish. Hitting the line strongly at his return, he will be fitter from the 2nd up run and has this within reach.

TROJAN BANNER (3) warms up for his Derby assault in this qualifier and will be looking to keep his undefeated Qld ledger in place. A winner at all 6 of his starts since arriving wit Al Barnes, he ripped home a strong 800m from the breeze last start at Redcliffe. A 3m winner over subsequent winner COOL SCOOTER, can see him give this a big shake.

LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (10) arrives in Qld for NSW trainer Bernie Hewitt and has been in the money at 8 of his past 11. 6m from the handy UNTITLED last start, with the right trail he will be in the mix.

AIR TIME (8) is crying out to open his Qld account, having been placed when beaten 1.5m, a head and flared nostril in 3 starts. He will be needing some luck to find space, but if sighting gaps, he can charge home.

SELECTIONS: PACIFIC DRUMS (6), TROJAN BANNER (3), LETS KATCHMEIFUCAN (10), AIR TIME (8)
SUGGESTED BET: PACIFIC DRUMS (6) to win

RACE SEVEN

The inaugural JC McMullen has assembled a stellar line-up with quite a few combatants on the Derby path including the last start winner SELF ASSURED (8). Taking a trail on his stablemate over the 2680m last week, he blazed home a sizzling half to arrive on the line. With a huge boom, his only danger here looks to be the barrier. Likely to snag back to get off the pegs, he can rip home.

ALTA ORLANDO (13) makes his Aus debut for Sydney based Craig Cross and arrives a 13-time winner in NZ. His most recent form in the Shaky Isles has been against the open class ranks and 3 starts back he was narrowly beaten behind ASHLEY LOCAZ. A former smart juvenile, he looked smart in a recent Menangle trial however doesn’t get any favours from the gate.

DAZZLE ME (2) had to earn the lamp lighting duties in the Redcliffe Derby and once in control was grabbed late by MAKE WAY who was able to worry him out of it. Finding the pegs and then a trail here can see him unleash his closing sprint, which might just be the key.

WE SALUTE YOU (9) was luckless in the Redcliffe Derby, losing his chances when making an error. Bouncing back with a stylish effort here last Friday, if he can avoid getting shuffled too far back, he can climb over them late.

SELECTIONS: SELF ASSURED (8), ALTA ORLANDO (13), DAZZLE ME (2), WE SALUTE YOU (9)
SUGGESTED BET: SELF ASSURED (8) to win

RACE EIGHT

GOVERNOR JUJON (1)
can add another feature to his tally here and extend his unbeaten run to 5. He was brutal in the Redcliffe Sales Final, doing the work in the breeze and holding off a late challenge to take over 1sec off the 2YO track record. He looks to have it all and this is at his mercy.

JIGGLE AND JIVE (8) returned from a break in great style to take them all the way from gate 1 over the REDCLIFFE sprint trip. Given a break following a smart 2nd when hitting the line strongly in the Breeders Classic behind AMAYA BECOMES, she can take the closing shot on the Guv in this.

REDS GOOD TO GO (9) pressed forward to find the front from gate 5 last start and once in control had enough bullets to claim a half-neck win. With the right cart into the contest he has place hopes.

GOOD AS IT GETS (2) sat in the 1x1 trail last start and just couldn’t reel them in when 5m from the winner. Forced to work the start prior, if he can limit the work-load here, he will be in the mix.

SELECTIONS: GOVERNOR JUJON (1), JIGGLE AND JIVE (8), REDS GOOD TO GO (9), GOOD AS IT GETS (2)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi F4 1 / 8 / 2-5-9 / 2-5-9-10

RACE NINE

OUR PRINCESS TIFFANY (9)
will make her 1st race appearance at AP with her last race appearance coming when 2nd to BELLE OF MONTANA in the NZ Harness Jewels. She was brilliant in a trial here last week running home off a strong speed and the NSW Oaks winner should be too powerful here.

MISS STREISAND (4) resumes from a spell, but has been to the trials twice to open the pipes with the 2nd of those a solid Menangle hit-out behind ALTA ORLANDO. Making the finals of both the NSW and Vic Oaks- where she was only a half-neck off BELLE OF MONTANA in a heat, she can fire the early shots.

WRITE ABOUT LEXY (7) will be further tightened from her latest run when 2nd up from a break. A Bathurst winner at her return, she was just too far back last start. The gate hurts but she can chime in.

BETTOR BECAUSE (1) ran home some crazy sections in the Redcliffe Oaks when mid-field behind SMART AS CAMM BE and then franked that with an easy win. From the gate and a cosy trip, she can run a drum at odds.

SELECTIONS: OUR PRINCESS TIFFANY (9), MISS STREISAND (4), WRITE ABOUT LEXY (7), BETTOR BECAUSE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi Trifecta 9 / 4-7 / 1-4-7-8

RACE TEN

OUR OVERANOVA (2)
worked home strongly off the 50m tape last start in a new track record set by MAJESTIC COURTNEY. That followed his run in the Redcliffe Cup where he wasn’t really suited after being buried in the run. Back to a good alley from the mobile, he can score win 43 at The Creek.

EMPIRE BAY (3) dominated a strong field of square-gaiters in the Redcliffe Cup, putting them away at the 300m and cruising home to a big 20m victory in a new track record for the 2613m trip. His run 2 back was solid after making an error and with a good mobile record will be throwing down the challenge.

JUSTABITNOISY (1) went within a pimple of victory last week after attacking the line strongly in the closing stages. With another soft trip on offer, look for him charging home in the closing stages.

TOUGH MONARCH (5) returns to Qld and will be 1st up since March when finishing 3rd in the G1 Grand Prix at Melton. Sharpened with a nice trial hit-out at Menangle, he looms as a big threat.

SELECTIONS: OUR OVERANOVA (2), EMPIRE BAY (3), JUSTABITNOISY (1), TOUGH MONARCH (5)
SUGGESTED BET:
