Talented young reinsman Brendan Barnes is returning home.

Based in Sydney for the past two years where he has enjoyed good success with a number of stables, Barnes will join the in-form local stables of Jack Butler at Logan Village.

In recent times, Barnes has been linked to the McDowell stables.

Now in his 6th season of race driving, Barnes has driven 213 winners from 1585 drives.

He has driven 8 winners to date this term.

His biggest victories have come TABCORP Park, Menangle with the likes of the Kevin Pizzuto prepared Alta Jerome, Match Point and Freyberg.

“It’s been a great experience and a whole lot of fun but heading home is probably the right thing for me right now, I’m looking forward to working for Jack and Tara.” Barnes said.

The Butler stable are enjoying a stellar season with another century looming, they have prepared over 100 winners for the past two seasons.

And returning to Brisbane will see him pitted against his brother Hayden, based with the Chantal Turpin and Pete McMullen stables.

Hayden Barnes is closing in on 50 winners for the season to date.

And expect Brendan to do some driving for his father Al who prepares a small team of pacers headlined by multiple Albion Park winner Kotare York.

Barnes will commence driving on Saturday week (June 23).
