RACE TWO

SOMEPARTYSOMEWHERE (11) was aiming up for the hat-trick last start and spearing out from gate 6 looked to take them all the way. It was only the in-form swooping BODHI TREE that was able to catch him. Although better suited in front, there looks a solid tempo here which will give him the swooping shot.

ANYCHANCE (7) found himself in front in the Lucky Creed FFA last week and was game to the wire when only beaten in the last stride by OUR UNCLE SAM. Only a neck from ALLELUIA 2 starts back when finishing hard in the closing stages, he can throw down a serious challenge despite the gate.

CHAPTER ONE (1) has started 3 times since returning from a break and should be closer to a fitness peak. He has found himself buried away in 2 of those runs and settling closer will help his chances.

POLISHED ROCKS (8) went to the front before releasing last week and then just lost momentum when he needed the passing lane. Rallying to grab the silver, if he can get some luck he has a chance.

SELECTIONS: SOMEPARTYSOMEWHERE (11), ANYCHANCE (7), CHAPTER ONE (1), POLISHED ROCKS (8)
SUGGESTED BET: SOMEPARTYSOMEWHERE (11)

RACE THREE

HOLY CAMP CLIVE (9) put the writing on the wall with a pair of impressive runner-up performances leading into his run last week. Starting from this same gate he was sent forward and did plenty of work in proving too strong. He has no favours with another 2nd line gate but will be fighting hard.

CLINTAL DO (7) has the tough gate to overcome as he returns from a freshen after last racing in the Triad Final back in May. Settling at the rear from outside the 2nd line he finished stylishly over the top to score by 5m. He is a classy customer with some bigger targets for the carnival.

OUTLAW FELLA (5) rarely runs a bad race and last week was strong to the line in claiming the silver behind OUR WALL STREET WOLF. He can look to press forward here and will be right in the mix.

ADMIRAL BRONSKI (10) resumed from a break with a tidy 3rd when looking to lead all the way from gate 7. Forget his latest run when making an error, if on his game he will give this a big shake.

SELECTIONS: HOLY CAMP CLIVE (9), CLINTAL DO (7), OUTLAW FELLA (5), ADMIRAL BRONSKI (10)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 5-7-9-10

RACE FOUR

YANKEE STRUTTER (5)
rolled forward here on Tues from gate 7 before receiving cover and while he didn’t really have much left to offer, he was looking for space. Beaten less than 2m here 2 starts back, he has the early speed to have a look here and should appreciate this class of contest.

GET IN THE GROOVE (3) lands her best gate for some time and can look to make the most of the advantage. Doing her share of early work last start from gate 6 she couldn’t see it out over the 2138m trip. In this line-up from the improved gate she can issue a challenge.

SICILIAN SLUMBER (1) worked in the run early to hold the inside advantage before releasing the speed over the 2138m trip. Back to the mile suits and from the gate should enjoy a cosy trip.

BULL MARKET (8) will be looking for the gaps and might even look to get away from the pegs in the early stages to avoid getting too keen. Only 8m from HUGHIE GREEN last start he is worth of consideration in this line-up.

SELECTIONS: YANKEE STRUTTER (5), GET IN THE GROOVE (3), SICILIAN SLUMBER (1), BULL MARKET (8)
SUGGESTED BET: Flexi trifecta1-3-5-8

RACE FIVE

OUR MILLWOOD MAIZIE (1) will need some factors to fall her way but when saved for the closing shot she possesses a great sprint and she will be coiled and ready to fire. A tidy mid-week winner 2 starts back she found a strongly run 2138m last start behind INVINCIBLE LOXTON. This looks to suit.

REDS JET STAR (2) was looking for the gaps in a conditioned race 2 starts back and spotting an opening took the gap and sprinted well to arrive for the win. Working home strongly here on Tuesday from a long way back, she lands the improved gate and can give plenty of cheek in this.

OUR WALL STREET WOLF (8) shoots for the hat-trick after successive wins at the mile. His run last week was a tough effort when sent to the breeze and proving too strong. He will need plenty of luck from the gate this time.

FIFTH EDITION (9) will strip fitter following 1 run back from a spell. Settling in the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line he was 5m from HOLY CAMP CLIVE. Landing handy he is in the mix here.

SELECTIONS: OUR MILLWOOD MAIZIE (1), REDS JET STAR (2), OUR WALL STREET WOLF (8), FIFTH EDITION (9)
SUGGESTED BET: OUR MILLWOOD MAIZIE (1) to win

RACE SIX

HUGHIE GREEN (4)
was clinical in his return to the track last week after an injury enforced 12 month break. The way he powered home over the closing stages was impressive at the end of the 2138m trip as he looked to be well within himself. The mile not be his preferred trip but he will just keep coming.

OUR UNCLE SAM (3) was ultra-impressive last week in winning the Lucky Creed at his first time in the open age FFA ranks. Shunted 4 wide with 900m to travel he was game all the way and fighting hard arrived on the line. He took the next step in good style last week and draws better here!

MATTGREGOR (9) has been sparingly raced this prep with just 4 starts since late March. Luckless last start when looking for an opening, he has trialled nicely and with even luck will throw some punches here.

GLENFERRIE HOOD (1) will be better suited this week back to the mile and from an improved gate. He struck trouble twice last week and that followed a tough run in the breeze. He will be gripping on.

SELECTIONS: HUGHIE GREEN (4), OUR UNCLE SAM (3), MATTGREGOR (9), GLENFERRIE HOOD (1)
SUGGESTED BET: HUGHIE GREEN (4) to win

RACE SEVEN

ZALTA (4) started from the 2nd line here 2 starts back and finished over the top in scoring a 2m victory. In the heats of this series at Marburg he was beaten by the gate on the tight track after settling behind the leader from inside the 2nd line. Back to the front line is key and this looks ideal.

FALCON VISTA (1) made the most of gate 1 in the heat and hustling hard to hold the advantage was able to run even splits and kick clear late for a 7m victory. With the options from the gate he gets his chance to fight it out here.

OLIVER WINKLE (2) followed inside runs to finish a tidy 3rd to KEILOR MISTY here 2 starts back to make it placings in 3 of his past 4 starts. Too strong in rolling to the front in winning his heat, he looms as a big danger.

SWAFFHAM WATER (8) will be tucked away on the pegs in transit and be looking to issue a closing sprint when the gaps open. A win might be out of reach but with the inside line the exotics beckon.

SELECTIONS: ZALTA (4), FALCON VISTA (1), OLIVER WINKLE (2), SWAFFHAM WATER (8)
SUGGESTED BET: ZALTA (4) to win

RACE EIGHT

MONIVAE (1)
had no luck last start at Marburg when buried on the pegs and looking for the gaps. His run 4 starts back behind INVINCIBLE LOXTON had merit and landing his best gate for some time will have the options and looks to get every chance for a breakthrough.

GOVINNI (4) took on a much stronger race here on Tues and sent straight to the front from gate 5 tried to dictate. The early burn of a 27.1 opening panel took its toll as he faded late in a race taken out by COLD IDEAL. Back to this grade from the gate he will be gripping on in the closing stages.

SIR JULIAN (6) didn’t have much luck last start at his Qld debut from gate 7 when looking for positon and then finishing 14m from PARISIAN ROCKSTAR. Expect a sharper effort here.

MR MEDDLE (8) will get the cosy trip here and be ready to sprint when the gaps open. Luckless last start when looking for an opening, his run 2 back was a tidy effort behind OUR WALL STREET WOLF.

SELECTIONS: MONIVAE (1), GOVINNI (4), SIR JULIAN (6), MR MEDDLE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: MONIVAE (1) to win

RACE NINE

MISS GRACELAND (7)
will be first up from a spell and has the wide gate to overcome, but she is in another postcode on class to her opponents here. The Vic Oaks winner of last season debuts for Craig Cross after a stable switch without a public trial but the class of the 12-time winner can prevail.

KEILOR MISTY (4) made the most of the ace gate here 2 starts back and once the gap arrived in the stretch sprinted home to score. Finding running-line cover she couldn’t go when the sprint went on and ran home fairly. Settling closer she can be sharper in this.

BURNING AMBITION (6) landed the ace gate last week and looked to take them all the way. Opening in a 27 flat panel she couldn’t see it out in the closing stages. The wide gate hurts but she can place.

BELLA RIPPIN (8) will need her share of luck from this gate but saved up for a last shot can look for the gaps to sprint late. 7m from JANUARY last week she will be probing for the gaps.

SELECTIONS: MISS GRACELAND (7), KEILOR MISTY (4), BURNING AMBITION (6), BELLA RIPPIN (8)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE TEN

MASTER HUGH (1)
stepped cleanly and looked to take them all the way last start over the 2647m trip and set a solid tempo from the front that wasn’t far off a track record clip. Fitter from 3 runs back from a break and back to the 2138m he can look keep them chasing.

NEEDLE (4) faces possibly her strongest line-up since arriving in Aust and will be looking to prove her powers as she heads to some of the bigger trot races in the carnival. Dominant in everything she has contested since arriving that includes 9 victories, she commands huge respect.

MISTER GUNSEN (5) is like Melbourne’s weather and continues to mix it up. When able to find the front and roll along he is mighty hard to get past as shown in winning from the mobile 2 starts back. Hard to beat if on his best behaviour.

JUSTABITNOISY (2) is knocking on the door for a victory when the conditions are right. He found the line strongly last start when 3m from OUR OVERANOVA and will go close again. Stick with him.

SELECTIONS: MASTER HUGH (1), NEEDLE (4), MISTER GUNSEN (5), JUSTABITNOISY (2)
SUGGESTED BET: MASTER HUGH (1) to win
