Punter's Guide to Thoroughbred Tracks
RQ confirms that following consultation with Brisbane RC (BRC) and the Australian Trainers Association the club’s trials on Tuesday 27 March at Eagle Farm have been rescheduled, weather & track conditions permitting, to Thursday 29 March.
The rescheduled meeting will however be capped at 120 horses & accordingly, the attached balloting system will be employed to determine the heats’ composition.
Trainers are advised that they will be required to nominate for the trials & that nominations taken for the meeting’s original scheduling (i.e. those which closed at 12 noon today, Monday 26/3) are null & void.
Nominations for Thursday’s trials will now close at noon on Wednesday 28 March.
As a consequence of the need to restrict horse numbers at the rescheduled trials, a set of BRC jumpouts will now also be held on the dirt at Eagle Farm on Tuesday 27 March.
Nominations for the jumpouts should be made directly with BRC.
The change to the schedule will also have broadcast ramifications & as a result there will not be live SKY coverage of the Eagle Farm trials.
Full replays will however be available on the RQ website later in the evening of Thursday 29 March.
Brisbane Racing Club Trials Selection Protocol
Following consultation with the Australian Trainers Association and Racing Queensland, Brisbane Racing Club has developed the following protocol for application for its (rescheduled) trials meeting at Eagle Farm on Thursday 29 March 2018:
If the number of horses nominated exceeds either 120 (following QRIC’s directive that starting limits be set at 8), horses will be selected in the following order:
In cases where nomination levels are such that it is practical to program heats for all horses nominated (i.e. the limit of 120 horses is marginally exceeded) BRC may choose to exercise its discretion in this regard.
