VANDE VELDE (11) lands a tricky gate and will be 1st up since Boxing Day last year, however his record in these type of races is strong. Too tough from the breeze off gate 6 at Redcliffe 4 starts back, his latest effort was from the pocket trail when beaten a neck behind SIR JULIAN. Just needs the right run to take this.
CHLOES CLOUD (1) was a tough winner over the 2040m trip at Redcliffe 5 starts back when rolling to the breeze from gate 5 and taking a 3m victory. She will appreciate this much more than her outing on Tues when they down the line behind TOM ME GUN. With the cosy trip she can look to strike.
RUATO BAY (3) claimed the silver at Redcliffe behind CHIRPY CHUCKLES 2 starts back but faced a stand down. Forget his return when striking trouble last start from gate 7, he won’t be far away from this alley.
SELECTIONS: VANDE VELDE (11), RUATO BAY (3), CHLOES CLOUD (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-10-11
LISA LINCOLN (2) was after the hat-trick last start when sent out over the mile trip and was never suited in working in the breeze in a slick 1.54.1 rate. Never in danger when winning in red figures and leading throughout at her previous 2 starts, she has the speed to lead here. The only query is the 2138m but if able pinch a panel she can prove hard to get past.
WHERES THE SPIRIT (9) found running line cover from gate 7 over this trip 2 starts back and was able to finish best to claim a 3m victory. His latest run wasn’t the cleanest of passages in transit and from this gate can get a good early trail and be ready to stake a swoopers claim.
MAGOOGAN (1) was back in the pack from gate 9 last start and when finding pace hit the line in good order to finish mid-field behind TRILIGHT BRIGADE. Placed his previous 4 in succession, he can enjoy a soft trip and be ready for the snipers shot.
MAMMALS MAGIC (8) will be buried away but the pegs just might be the best place in this contest. Only gunned down in the closing stages last start when looking to lead throughout, she will be probing for the gaps.
SELECTIONS: LISA LINCOLN (2), WHERES THE SPIRIT (9), MAGOOGAN (1), MAMMALS MAGIC (8)
SUGGESTED BET: LISA LINCOLN (2) to win
HIPSTAR (5) has been runner-up at his past 2 starts from tough 2nd line gates when hitting the line in good order in each. He loomed up to hit the front as the straightened here last start over the 2138m after leading the 3-wide train from the 800m and was then only collared on the line by BRIAN WHO. Back to 3YO only company he gets every chance.
SAMS THE BEST (2) will strip fitter following his latest start when returning to start his 3YO term. Sent straight to the front over the Redcliffe 1780m trip from gate 5, it was only the closing stages where his condition gave out when holding on for the bronze. Pouncing on the pegs here he will be gripping on.
SPECIAL RESERVE (1) has placed at her past 3 starts with the past 2 when looking to lead all the way. 2 starts back over the 2138m she was worried out of it by MISS BLUE GLORY and last start was rundown by the smart TUAPEKA LIGHT. She can podium again with the cosy trip.
BETTOR BECAUSE (8) started from a 2nd line gate last start over the sprint trip at Redcliffe and arrived in time to take a nice win. That followed a 2nd here 2 starts back and she is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: HIPSTAR (5), SAMS THE BEST (2), SPECIAL RESERVE (1), BETTOR BECAUSE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: HIPSTAR (5) to win
IM NO OUTLAW (1) was 1st up for the season and having just his 2nd race start when landing gate 7 here over the mile last time out. Snagged back to find position he was finding the line in good order in the closing stages. Luckless on debut as a 2YO, he can make the most of the improved gate here to open his account.
TORQUE WITH ESTEEM (8) was desperately unlucky last start when unable to find clean running and after an abrupt change of direction was still only 3.5m from the winner BRIAN WHO. She chased gamely from the pocket trail behind a dominant LEFT A TERROR 2 starts back and will be ready to take the snipers shot here.
MISS BLUE GLORY (7) was strong to the line here 2 starts back over the 2138m trip when sent to the breeze from gate 6 mid-race and then packed too much heat to score. She found the line in good style last start and can be working home late here.
THE RAGNBONE MAN (2) didn’t have much luck from gate 4 over the 2138m last start and 2 starts ago struck some trouble and was too far back. He might be able to have a look for a cheap peg run here and land in the money.
SELECTIONS: IM NO OUTLAW (1), TORQUE WITH ESTEEM (8), MISS BLUE GLORY (7), THE RAGNBONE MAN (2)
SUGGESTED BET: IM NO OUTLAW (1) to win
BRIAN WHO (3) was 1st up off a freshen here 2 starts back and was strong to the line when doing the heavy lifting outside eventual winner BOULDER CITY. That put the writing on the wall and on a 3 day back-up over the 2138m closed out in fine style from a long way back to score. He can sit off what looks some early speed and take the closing shot.
MORROCH BAY (7) was after a hat-trick of victories here 2 starts back and from gate 1 wasn’t at his best. Causing a false start he led them at the 2nd take but was never comfortable in the run when down the line. He had an early look from gate 7 last start before retreating and was then against the tempo. Set alight he can get across them and will be gripping on.
LIFES BLACK (4) is having a good season with 3 wins and a pair of 2nds in 7 appearances. Sent to the front from gate 2 here last start he ripped home a nice closing half to score in good fashion. He will be in the fight.
GINA MACH (1) was 2nd up from a break here 2 runs back and after settling in the running line from gate 11 was able to finish over the top of them in good order to score. With a cosy trip she can be ready to strike.
SELECTIONS: BRIAN WHO (3), MORROCH BAY (7), LIFES BLACK (4), GINA MACH (1)
SUGGESTED BET: BRIAN WHO (3) to win
HEAVENS HURRICANE (3) returned from a break over the me here 4 starts back and led them up when his condition just faded in the latter stages when finishing 2nd. Narrowly beaten again 2nd up at the mile he was too slick up the passing lane over the 2138m grabbing KEY LARGO. Luckless last start he finds a race to find the pegs and dictate here.
PINUP BOY (8) doesn’t get any favours from the gate but does have the advantage of being the lone 2nd line runner. Tough from the breeze last start and only beaten a neck, he was a passing lane winner here 2 starts back over the 2138m trip. With a slice of luck he can throw down the challenge.
ONLY IN ROME (5) ended a long winless streak when finding his race here last start and taking control from the front held on to score by a head. He put the writing on the wall with placings his previous 2 and with the confidence can feature.
ARK PATROL (7) faces a task from the wide gate here but if able to get some luck in running can chime into the exotics. 8m from TUESDAYS FELLA last start his run was strong 3 starts back when winning from the breeze and he won’t be far away.
SELECTIONS: HEAVENS HURRICANE (3), PINUP BOY (8), ONLY IN ROME (5), ARK PATROL (7)
SUGGESTED BET: HEAVENS HURRICANE (3) to win
MARETTI (7) will find this easier than his latest 2 outings and despite landing the car-park alley can power his way forward. He struck trouble early last start before pressing on to the breeze and faded under a hot tempo with LILC FLASH swooping home to score. A strong 2nd to WATCH PULP FICTION 2 starts back, this looks his for the taking.
OUR BONDI BEACH (1) claimed a 2nd division qualifier here 3 starts back when making his Qld debut when hustling hard to hold the front over the mile and hold on to score. He followed that with a strong run when within 1.5m of TOMEARA. With the benefit of the ace he will be right in the mix.
ROCK WITH SAM (8) had an early look last start before finding running line cover and fighting on to finish mid-field to SECRET JACK. Hitting the line strongly from the 2nd line here 2 starts back he has place claims.
FARRAHFOWLER (2) found the pegs 1st before releasing last start in a mares event and was fighting late to go under by a neck. This will be a tougher ask but she is in good touch and can chime in.
SELECTIONS: MARETTI (7), OUR BONDI BEACH (1), ROCK WITH SAM (8), FARRAHFOWLER (2)
SUGGESTED BET: MARETTI (7) to win
