Racing Queensland has agreed to transfer tomorrow’s scheduled meeting at the Ipswich Turf Club to Doomben.

Following last week’s abandonment at Ipswich, the club conducted remediation work near the winning post at RQ’s advisement, but following a stewards’ inspection today, further recovery was deemed necessary.

A pre-existing scheduling break in the racing calendar should allow further time for Ipswich to consolidate.

“We wanted to provide surety to punters and the industry and transferring the meeting to Doomben was the best way to ensure that,” RQ Chief Executive Officer Brendan Parnell said.

“We will continue to work with the Ipswich Turf Club with a view to delivering a more suitable long-term solution.”

As a result of the transfer, it has been necessary to amend a number of race distances ahead of tomorrow. These comprise:

• Race 3 - Class 4 Handicap – was 1666m, is now 1640m
• Race 4 - Maiden Handicap – was 1666m, is now 1640m
• Race 5 - Maiden Plate (SW) – was 1100m, is now 1110m
• Race 6 - Benchmark 65 Handicap – was 1000m, is now 1050m

The remainder of the program remains as previously published.
