Leading breeders back Redcliffe Yearling Sale

Many of Queensland’s leading studmasters and breeders are represented at the Redcliffe Yearling Sale, to be conducted by Darren Ebert & Co at Redcliffe Paceway on Sunday, March 31, starting at 12 noon.

Burwood Stud, one of the State’s foremost breeding nurseries, has the largest draft with 18 entries including nine lots by resident stallion Cammibest, two fillies by Heston Blue Chip, and single lots by Well Said, Pet Rock, A Rocknroll Dance, Sportswriter, Warrawee Needy, Artistic Fella and trotting sires Skyvalley and Yield Boko.

Montana Park has nominated four yearlings – two colts and two fillies – all by former Queensland champion Lanercost out of race-winning dams, while Monarch Farm, conducted by Margaret Donohoe, has nominated three youngsters including colts by Village Jolt and Lincoln Royal and a filly by Follow The Stars.

Chris Garrard, the founder of Garrard’s Horse and Hound, sponsors of the Redcliffe Yearling Sale race series, has three entries including two colts by successful sire Changeover from sub 2:00 winning mares and a Cammibest half-sister to Pittsworth Man (1:59.4).

Other prominent breeders that are dually represented are Dr John Mammino, Tony Griffiths, Robert Cox and Kylie Rasmussen.

Mammino has a Rock N Roll Heaven half-sister to the dual Group winner Bonnie Jujon and a Grinfromeartoear three-quarter sister to Goddess Jujon, Griffiths is offering colts by Sunshine Beach and Major Bronski, while Cox has a colt by Mr Feelgood out of the three-time Group winner Catwalk Beauty and a Hurrikane Kingcole colt from the same family.

Rasmussen, one of Queensland’s leading horsewomen, has entered fillies by Pet Rock and Heston Blue Chip, both out of sub 1:56 dams.

Yearlings are eligible for the Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale Series with a minimum stake of $100,000 for two-year-olds in 2020 and the rich 3YO Sale Classic in 2021. They are also eligible for the Breeders Crown, the QBred Bonus Scheme, Bathurst Gold Crown, Vicbred and the NSW Breeders Challenge.
