Townsville Turf Club Race Meetings – Friday 15 March, Friday 22 March, Saturday 30 March & Mareeba T

Racing Queensland confirms that the unavailability of the racing venue at Cluden Park following the recent floods in the Townsville area has rendered it necessary for the remainder of the Townsville TC race meetings in March to be transferred to other race clubs.

Accordingly, and following the success of the club’s hosting of its inaugural TAB race meeting on Saturday 2 March, Bowen TC will accommodate two further replacement meetings for Townsville TC with Cairns JC also having been allocated one race meeting.

The venue and program changes to the schedule are:

Friday 15 March – was Townsville TC, is now Bowen TC

As a consequence of the change, it has been necessary to amend the distance of one of the races on the program.  It is:

  • Class 3 Plate – was 1400m, is now 1470m

The remainder of this program remains as has been previously published.

RQ also confirms that the following travel subsidies will be paid in respect of the meeting:

  • $200 for trainers domiciled in Townsville
  • $100 for riders domiciled in Townsville
  • $300 for trainers domiciled north of Townsville
  • $200 for riders domiciled north of Townsville

 

Friday 22 March - was Townsville TC, is now Bowen TC

As a consequence of the change, it has been necessary to amend the conditions/distances of a number of races on the program.  The changes are:

  • Benchmark 69 Handicap – 1000m is now Benchmark 65 Handicap with same distance retained
  • Benchmark 60 Handicap  - was 1609m, is now 1470m
  • Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1000m is now Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap with the same distance retained
  • Class 6 Handicap – was 1300m, is now 1280m
  • Maiden Handicap – was 1300m, is now 1280m

The remainder of this program remains as has been previously published.

Saturday 30 March – was Townsville TC, is now Cairns JC

As a consequence of the change, it has been necessary to amend the conditions/distances of a number of races on the program.  The changes are:

  • Open Handicap – was 1300m, is now 1250m
  • Ratings Band 0-65 Handicap – 1400m is now Benchmark 65 Handicap with the same distance retained
  • Class 3 Plate – was 1200m, is now 1250m
  • Maiden Plate – was 1200m, is now 1250m
  • QTIS 3yo Handicap – was 1300m, is now 1250m
  • QTIS 2yo Maiden Handicap – was 1000m, is now 950m

The remainder of this program remains as has been previously published.

  • $$300 for trainers domiciled in Townsville or south of Townsville
  • $200 for riders domiciled in Townsville or south of Townsville

 

Saturday 23 March – Mareeba TC (Non-TAB meeting)

Retained at same venue, with one change to the program as a consequence of the aforementioned transfer of the 30 March race meeting to Cairns JC.

  • Open Handicap – was 1210m, is now 1010m

Cognisant of the ongoing impact the Townsville TC outage may potentially have on participants, RQ will continue to adopt an aggressive approach to the division of races at these race meetings should acceptance numbers deem it appropriate.
