Last start feature race winning rookie Capitalize is on the mend.
The winner of the Listed $25,450 QBRED Breeders Classic at Albion Park on May 12 was scratched from his heat of the Garrards Redcliffe Yearling Sale Series owing to a cut to a leg.
Trainer/driver Mark Dux had no option to take his talented youngster out.
“It’s disappointing because this has been a target for some time and he looked right in the mix but the horse comes first and we had to pull him out. It’s nothing major but just enough to cause discomfort, he’s had an easy week and we’ll start again with him.” Dux said.
The Mr Feelgood – Our Lillyfield gelding certainly rated strongly for the Gr.1 $100,450 Final which is scheduled this Friday night.
Connections will now turn their attention to the other Gr.1 feature, the $100,540 QBRED Triad Final on July 21, the final night of the Albion Park winter carnival.
“Ultimately, it would’ve been great to contest both big races but that’s not the case now, he’ll be right for the Triad and hopefully he can pick that race up.
“He was ready for the Redcliffe series but the cut is down near his pastern so it’s quite a tricky spot, we weren’t going to take any chances with him.
“We like him, he’s a nice horse with a good future and you must look after these types because they can earn good money in time.”
Capitalize is raced by his breeder, Stephen Dux, brother of Mark.
