Young driver Lachie Manzelmann has strong prospects of starting his defence of the Queensland Young Drivers Championship at Albion Park today with winning chances ROCK WITH SAM and BONNIE JUJON.
ROCK WITH SAM will jump from gate 9 in the opening heat of the 2018 BOTRA Young Drivers Championship (2138m) at 3.47pm and follow up with BONNIE JUJON from gate 2 in the second heat over 1660m at 4.22pm.
The Jack Butler-trained ROCK WITH SAM has an awkward gate to overcome but put together a hat-trick of wins last month before being posted in the death seat in a Rising Stars Final at Albion Park on April 28.
BONNIE DUJON is having a consistent season with three wins, three seconds and three thirds from 17 starts. Lachie won the 2017 Young Drivers title on a countback from Danni-elle McMullen.
The drivers contesting the 2018 Young Drivers Championship are: Narissa, Danni-elle and Taleah McMullen, Matt Elkins, Paul Diebart, Hayden Barnes, Brittany Graham, Isobel Ross, Leonard Cain and Lachie Manzelmann.
Six heats will be run starting today with two more heats at Redcliffe tomorrow and two on Saturday night at Albion Park.
