Race 3 - Grand Prix Stakes (2200m)
10th Lord Arthur (J McDonald): He gave me a good feel. It was just a muddling run race.
8th Bobby Dee (Blake Shinn): On face value he was disappointing. He didn’t make much of an impact. It was a leader dominated race but he didn’t pick up much up the running.
11th Partnership (Jason Taylor): It was a nice grinding run and probably looking for two miles.
13th Fuji Fury (Jeff Lloyd): He got knocked down at the start and was three deep the whole way. He wasn’t up to it.
12th Grinzinger Star (Corey Brown): Very disappointing. He travelled up good and the speed was good but from the 600 home he was like a pancake.
7th Borazon (Robbie Fradd): Not a bad run from him in this type of field. Wait six weeks when the carnival finishes and he’ll win his races.
5th A Man To Match (Larry Cassidy): His run was very good. We went back from the wide gate but the speed was very ordinary. I think you’ll find the sectionals were pretty good so I was very pleased going to the Derby.
4th Trusty Lad (Jimmy Orman): They seemed to go fairly silly up front. He kept coming to the line so hopefully he’s just peaking for the right race.
2nd Angel Of Heaven (Tommy Berry): She was really good today. She had the crossover nose band the first time but still wanted to go a little keen. If they decide to press on to the Oaks it might take the edge off her and she should switch off better. She’s heading in the right direction.
3rd Homemade (Jamie Kah): Really happy. She wasn’t quite fit enough to test the leader earlier otherwise would have made it interesting in the end.
Race 6 - Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m)
10th Written With Ease (Michael Walker): She finished on a little bit. I like her and I think she’ll make a nice three-year-old filly.
12th Grand Scholar (Jamie Kah): She didn’t feel right at all and pulled up at the 200m. Her action was short so there’s definitely something wrong there.
6th Gem Of Scotland (Jimmy Orman): She was tough. She had a three-wide run from the gate but she kept boxing on to the line.
9th Flybridge (Dale Smith): It was a good run at 250-1 and got home nice. He’s a nice horse going forward and will make a nice three-year-old. Might go to a mile next start and will be a lot handier.
11th Oh Five Glory (Taylor Marshall): Fraction disappointing today. We had a lovely run in transit. There were no excuses and I thought she was entitled to finish off better than what she did. Back to the drawing board.
2nd Accession (James McDonald): Very good run and was unlucky not to win. Just got a bit held up. He looks ideal for a mile.
8th Creator (Kerrin McEvoy): Hegot back and stayed on. A mile is going to suit him.
7th Disrupter (Larry Cassidy): He just got back a spot further than I would have liked. I got on to the winner’s back when he pushed out and I thought he got out at the right time to run a place but he just failed to run the journey.
3rd Garibaldi (Jeff Lloyd): I was pretty confident. He’s a lovely horse. He was there for a long way but he’s never led before. It’s a long straight and he did himself proud.
4th Czarson (Blake Shinn): The horse ran very well. He had a nice run behind the leaders. He presented like he was going to win and stuck on nicely but the first three were a bit better on the day.
Race 8 - Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m)
5th Dubious (Nikita Berriman): I thought his run was terrific. He just had to cover a bit of ground. Going forward he’s a really nice horse.
13th Man Booker (Jake Bayliss): Game plan went out the window straight away. He stepped away a length slow so it brought him back in behind them. I rode him for a bit of luck but once he started to get going horses kept coming back into his lap. It cost him momentum so the Stradbroke will be better for him.
3rd Trekking (Kerrin McEvoy): Good run. Stepped okay but was unable to hold third the fence and the winner got a better run than us. They didn’t go that quick. Handicap conditions will suit in the Stradbroke.
17th Dollar For Dollar (Jamie Kah): Very disappointing. He’s pulled up bad and very heavy. There’s something wrong with him.
11th Ring A Ding Ding (James McDonald): He was okay and made ground late. 1400 metres and a drop in weight in the Straddie will suit him.
8th Victorem (Ben Looker): His run was okay and I had a nice run. I think with the 59kgs he couldn’t zip as he can but getting into the Stradbroke with no weight on his back should see him improve.
7th Outback Barbie (Jeff Lloyd): Had to go back from the barrier and rode her for luck and she finished off really well.
10th Prompt Response (Robbie Fradd): Not bad and she was good late. Probably a step up to the mile will benefit her a lot.
2nd Princess Posh (Larry Cassidy): Got into a great spot from the draw and travelled well. Coming to the turn I thought she was going to be hard to beat but she just failed.
16th Chapter And Verse (Mark Du Plessis): Got onto the back of James McDonald and coming into the straight I thought he would kick like he usually does but he just lacked that bit today.
15th Redouble (Brad Rawiller): Pleased with his run and he ran well. I thought he was a big chance coming to the turn but he just lacked that dash to make things happen.
4th Irithea (Jimmy Orman): She ran super. I thought I had it won at the 200 but The Bostonian is flying. With a light weight she’ll run a good race in the Stradbroke.
12th I Am Excited (Blake Shinn): I thought she ran well but she was a bit unsuited where we were positioned in the run. She ran on well.
14th White Moss (Kathy O’Hara): I think she’s come to the end this prep.
9th Encryption (Corey Brown): He ran well. I wished I had ridden him a little quieter. He jumped and got there easy but he had no finish because of where he positioned up.
Race 9 - Fred Best Classic (1400m)
17th Savatoxl (Nikkita Berriman): He didn’t handle the opposite direction and was on one rein. I couldn’t get the best out of him.
7th Signore Fox (Kerrin McEvoy): He got back and they ran quite quick. I had to make a wide run but he ran on well.
6th Ocean Waves (Jimmy Orman): We went back and rode for luck. He kept coming to the line so it was not a bad run.
15th Agassi (Tommy Berry): He gave up too quick for him. He usually attacks the line so it’s back to the drawing board.
9th Vega One (Jeff Lloyd): It seemed like another race. He just over raced and I had no option but to move on.
8th Pohutukawa (Corey Brown): Ran terrific but the way the track played you had to be near the fence. She had a chequered run all the way down the straight but she ran terrific.
4th Crafty Spirit (Brad Stewart): He made up good ground down the straight so it was quite an honest run. I was very happy with him.
12th Vigor Winner (Blake Shinn): We had every chance but didn’t quite measure up today.
16th Mishani Hustler (Taylor Marshall): It was a tough ask today. Up to 1400 metres and she drew the outside today. It was testing conditions for him.
2nd Baccarat Baby (Michael Hellyer): It was an enormous run. Had a tough task back wide the whole way. She had the audacity to kick at the top of the straight and just missed out.
14th Pennino (Matt McGillivray): She raced okay and travellrf well but just needs a wet track.
11th Leonardo Da Hinchi (Brad Rawiller): I was really happy with him today after the injuries he’s had to come back from. He still ran below par for him but he tracked up well today and gave me a good feel. The match fitness will do him the world of good.
10th Zortori (Michael Cahill): Excellent Queensland Guineas trial. He couldn’t go the early tempo. He had to settle back a bit but found the line very well.
