RACE TWO

HURRIKANE SPECIAL (2) will be 2nd up from a break, taking some fitness benefits from her latest start. Striking some trouble in the run from a 2nd line gate, she chased hard and was looking to work into the contest wide out. With early speed from this gate, she will have options and today just might be her moment to shine.

LANOCH BOY (4) looked to have found his race last week and was duly sent to the post a red figure fav. Not possessing the speed to get across, he sat at the wheel of the leader throughout, fighting on to hold the silver when 15m in arrears of the winner. He has another chance to breakthrough here.

ILLBEWATCHING (8) covered plenty of the triangle here last week from the 2nd line when finishing mid-field. Only a half-head away here 3 starts back, with an easier trip he can be in the mix.

BUTCHERFEELGOOD (6) has the wide gate as a result of her starting manners, but there was some merit to her latest start when keen in transit and not too far away. She has some claims.

SELECTIONS: HURRIKANE SPECIAL (2), LANOCH BOY (4), ILLBEWATCHING (8), BUTCHERFEELGOOD (6)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE THREE

GUY LOOKS GOOD (4)
was sent forward in the early stages looking for position over this trip last start when starting fav in an open market. Finding some cover, he was able to hold on for 3rd, beaten a margin. The run the start prior from gate 5 over the AP mile was sound and in an open contest he can prevail.

LA PISTOLA (5) returns from a spell, being 1st up since Jan 1 when breaking his maiden status after claiming a strong win from the breeze over the 2040m trip. That was his 2nd up run after an 8-month lay-off. Fitness is the big query from the wide gate without a public hit-out, yet he strikes a winnable contest.

CHILI ROCKS (6) is nearing a win when the conditions are right following 3 career starts. Runner-up at the past 2 of those, the latest behind the handy MIND OF MY OWN, she can chime in late here.

SARIE MARAIS (7) started from this gate last time out when angled into the running line. Finding the line in good order for 3rd behind MIND OF MY OWN, she can be probing for gaps to fill the exotics.

SELECTIONS: GUY LOOKS GOOD (4), LA PISTOLA (5), CHILI ROCKS (6), SARIE MARAIS (7)
SUGGESTED BET: GUY LOOKS GOOD (4) to win

RACE FOUR

FOREVER ROCKING (2)
eased off the arm last start from gate 3 to settle back in the pack. Making a strong charge in the closing stages, she went within 4m of the winner SUGARKANE. Beaten a similar margin the start prior in a mares race when not receiving the clearest passage to the line, from the good gate she gets a chance.

ART SUNSET (7) has returned from a spell in top order, showing improvement at each of her 3 runs. Striking trouble and still grabbing 3rd when 1st up, she was then only a half-head away when 2nd up. Capitalising last start to arrive for a nice win, she can get the prefect trip here to fire the last shot.

BIG IN AMERICA (1) has gone a stretch since her last victory, yet hasn’t been too far away in recent starts. With the speed to keep them wide, she can look to dictate and will be gripping on.

EULO FLYER (3) found the 1x1 trail last start but couldn’t go with them when the power went on. Settling close to the action, in this line-up he looks a podium prospect.

SELECTIONS: FOREVER ROCKING (2), ART SUNSET (7), BIG IN AMERICA (1), EULO FLYER (3)
SUGGESTED BET: FOREVER ROCKING (2) to win

RACE FIVE

NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (6)
sat back in the pack after starting from gate 9 last time out and was attacking the line with gusto in the closing stages, running some smart closing panels to be under 3m from the winner. An all the way winner the start prior, she has a top-3 in 11 from 13 here and can arrive for the prize.

MONTEREY JACK (7) was facing a task from the rear last start after settling back in the field from outside the 2nd line. That followed a smart win when resuming from a spell, arriving over the top to claim a smart win. With the added fitness and even luck in transit, he can be probing for the gaps to attack.

COAST WARNING (1) lands his best gate for some time and with the ability to run the gate when asked, lands the options to be in a forward position. Buried last start, he can be sharper here.

ONLY IN ROME (9) was sent on a forward move last start from gate 5 and doing the tough way was in for the fight when 3m from the winner SIRIUS VICKI.  The gate stings, but he can feature in this.

SELECTIONS: NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (6), MONTEREY JACK (7), COAST WARNING (1), ONLY IN ROME (9)
SUGGESTED BET: NEWMERELLA LADYKAY (6) to win

RACE SIX

PATCHWORK JET (1) will need some factors in his favour, yet if the right scenario pans out, he will get his chance to make the closing shot a winning one. He was game in the breeze over this trip 2 starts back when holding on for the silver and then arrived for a smart win at his next start. Coiled away he can strike.

THE WARP REACTOR (6) doesn’t receive any favours from this gate, but with an even share of luck in transit he should be able to secure the right trip. Not much went to plan for him last start which had followed a tidy effort when 2m in arrears of the all-the-way winner DONT CALL ME. This race isn’t out of reach.

TICK OF THE CLOCK (7) made a winning start for the new stable last time out, taking them all the way and hanging on for a narrow victory. He looks set to be shuffled away here, but can chime in when the gaps open.

READILY (9) eased from gate 4 last start to look for the short-cuts along the inside, finding the line in nice order to be 5m from the winner. With the right cart into the contest, he can chime into it late.

SELECTIONS: PATCHWORK JET (1), THE WARP REACTOR (6), TICK OF THE CLOCK (7), READILY (9)
SUGGESTED BET: PATCHWORK JET (1) to win

RACE SEVEN

This looks a great contest for a Thursday at the Peninsula with some nice form coming together. Despite landing outside the 2nd line, JUST JOSHIN (9) should appreciate the return to his home track after some handy efforts at AP of late. Placed in 3 of his past 4 in qualifying events, he was only beaten a head last time. With the right cart home, he can arrive for the prize.

LETTERKENNY BOY (8) lines up in Qld for the 5th time, yet to miss the board in his previous 4 outings. A heat winner over the sprint trip here 2 starts back when swooping hard to arrive, he grabbed the silver in the final of that series when 3m from the passing lane winner MAMMALS MAGIC. He can throw down a big challenge.

MACHIN OUT (1) rolled the sleeves to do it the tough way here 3 starts back when making a closing dive to get within a flared nostril. Taking them all the way at his next outing, he can look to capitalise from this gate.

ARTISTIC SAINT (4) pounced on the pegs here last week and from the front kept them chasing in scoring a 4m victory. Backing that up with a sound effort when working hard in the breeze, he can chime in here.

SELECTIONS: JUST JOSHIN (9), LETTERKENNY BOY (8), MACHIN OUT (1), ARTISTIC SAINT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: JUST JOSHIN (9) to win

RACE EIGHT

THERESACHANCE (1) led them up over the 2040m here 2 starts back, setting a solid tempo that he couldn’t sustain, fading in the closing stages. Setting a steadier first half in front last start, he was grabbed late when 3rd and only 3m in arrears. Back to the sprint trip is a big plus and he gets a chance to hold on.

ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (2) heads to the triangle for the 1st time since Jun 2019, where he does have a handy record of a top-two in 6 of his 8 outings. Eased back from gate 6 last start over the AP mile, he was always facing a task against the tempo. From the gate he will throw down a big challenge here.

BLUE MOON RISING (7) tried to take them all the way last start in a qualifier when fading late over the 2138m trip. Buried in the run here 2 starts back, he will be tucked away here ready for the gaps.

DOLLARBILL (5) pressed forward to find the front last start from gate 5 over the 2040m but couldn’t sustain it, fading out. Freshened since that run, he faces a tough gate but can be sharper.

SELECTIONS: THERESACHANCE (1), ROCKNROLL CLASSIC (2), BLUE MOON RISING (7), DOLLARBILL (5)
SUGGESTED BET: THERESACHANCE (1) to win

RACE NINE

LONESTAR LAD (7) started from this gate when making his Qld debut here last week. Soon buried 3 back along the inside, he was needing some luck and when the gap opened, he found the line in nice style. A Cobram winner 2 starts back when charging late, he looks to get the cosy trip here and be ready to pull the trigger in the stretch.

IMPRESSIVE DIAMOND (1) started from inside the 2nd line last start when angled away from the pegs into the running line, working home in good order when 5m in arrears of the winner MACH TORQUE. Tough in the breeze the start prior, she can use her early speed and will be gripping on.

SUGARKANE (2) has a terrific record here on the triangle, finishing in the money at 8 of her 9 outings, with 4 of those being victories. Adding another win here last start when 1st up in 6 weeks, arriving for a stylish win, she looms large again.

SO BOBS YOUR UNCLE (9) bounced back to winning form here 2 starts back, arriving over the top of them in the closing stages. Not suited from gate 5 last time when retreating and then looking for short-cuts, he can swoop late here.

SELECTIONS: LONESTAR LAD (7), IMPRESSIVE DIAMOND (1), SUGARKANE (2), SO BOBS YOUR UNCLE (9)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-7-9
