Du Plessis rounds out All Stars team for Origin Jockey Series

Racing Queensland has confirmed New Zealand-based jockey Mark Du Plessis will join the new ‘All Stars’ team for the UBET 2017 Origin Jockey Series. 

Zimbabwean-born Du Plessis will partner with South Africa’s Robbie Fradd to take on Queensland, New South Wales, New Zealand, Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania over three days from December 8-10.

Du Plessis won Zimbabwe’s champion apprentice in 1994/95 and took the senior title two years later, before relocating to New Zealand in November 1998.

He has since won 19 Group 1 races worldwide among 80 Group and Listed races in New Zealand.

He has also won some of the world’s most prestigious races including Singapore’s KrisFlyer International Sprint, and earned more than $20 million in stakes.

Du Plessis rounds is the 14th and final jockey to sign on for the series, which gets under way with meetings at Doomben on December 8 and 9.

The Sunshine Coast Turf Club at Caloundra will host the final day of the series on Sunday, December 10.
