Punter's Guide to Thoroughbred Tracks
STONED AGAIN (7) had placed in 3 successive runs including finishing the runner-up twice here at Marburg when beaten a head and a neck prior to his latest start. Put a line through that latest run when he made a mess of the start and was never a factor. Back to this opposition he can cash-in.
NO TRANSACTIONS (6) resumes from a break and will come into this without a public trial. 3 starts back over the 2280m stand trip at Redcliffe he pressed on to the front and went down fighting when beaten 3m. He had been meeting slightly harder company than this and will benefit from the run.
NORAHS FLING (4) locked wheels in the run here 2 starts back when doing a good job to be within 7m of the winner NORTHERN MUSCLE. Getting forward early she can give some cheek.
DAY TOURER (5) is still searching for a maiden Marburg win after 9 attempts and finishing the runner-up on 3 occasions. He worked too hard last start and with an easier trip can place in this.
SELECTIONS: STONED AGAIN (7), NO TRANSACTIONS (6), NORAHS FLING (4), DAY TOURER (5)
SUGGESTED BET: STONED AGAIN (7) to win
JUST TOMMY (8) will take great benefit from his 1st up run when stepping out for Darrel Graham in Qld for the 1st time and after a 12 month break. Looking to lead all the way, it took the smart performer PACIFIC DRUMS to run him down in finishing 2nd. Despite the gate he looks too slick.
DALLAS COWGIRL (7) has placed in 2 of 4 appearances here at the track. The latest run was 2 starts back when settling in the running line and running home well behind the big winner IMPETUOSO. Following through to settle handy here she has claims.
MAJOR SLIP UP (2) is a well-bred 1st starter for trainer Bill Crosby that has returned a pair of handy trials to prepare for his debut. He can look to slide across to the pegs and stays under notice.
HEADWIN (4) took on much stronger company last start when not receiving the cleanest passage behind NEWPORT DREAMZ. He can get forward here to apply some heat and is right in the fight.
SELECTIONS: JUST TOMMY (8), DALLAS COWGIRL (7), MAJOR SLIP UP (2), HEADWIN (4)
SUGGESTED BET: JUST TOMMY (8) to win
ROYAL TAZ (1) has gone over 12 months with the taste of success but strikes an alley, the opposition and a race to turn that around. Pressing on to get to the pegs from gate 6 last start he fought on gamely to be within 5m of the winner. Sent to the front he gets every chance to take them all the way.
CHEYENNE AUTUMN (2) has started twice in Qld since joining the Narissa McMullen barn, with her latest run a tidy effort behind HUNTER RED. She looks set to work in the run here which will make it harder, but if able to get away without forcing the issue, she will be right in the mix.
VELOCE BELLA (8) has been meeting stronger types than she faces here, however will need some luck to go her way from the 2nd line. 3rd to SUBTLE ADVICE last start look for her working home.
FLASHING GOOD TIME (6) will be probing for an opening from the inside 2nd line gate. Finding the pegs before releasing last start at Redcliffe she fought on well for 3rd. Just needs an opening in this.
SELECTIONS: ROYAL TAZ (1), CHEYENNE AUTUMN (2), VELOCE BELLA (8), FLASHING GOOD TIME (6)
SUGGESTED BET: ROYAL TAZ (1) to win
TASCOTT LADY (1) found the front from gate 3 last start and was looking to take them all the way when fading in the closing stages after setting a solid tempo. 3 starts back she took on the 2200m trip here when fighting hard from the breeze an only beaten 2m. Holding up she can dictate to score.
GUTS (6) is working his way to a victory and can challenge if able to sight a space. Buried in the run last start at Redcliffe he hit the line nicely to be 5m from the winner LYNNSANITY. That followed a string of wide gates and with the cosy trip here will be looking to squeeze into an opening.
MEANT TO BE ME (3) will find this more to her liking after taking on a handy field last start when doing some early work and finding it a bit tough behind ACT OF VALOR. She can be sharper here.
KEARNEY LANE (8) has placed in 3 of her past 4 starts and is slowly working back towards a victory. She hit the line in good order last start behind the smart THE BOYS GNP and will be closing hard.
SELECTIONS: TASCOTT LADY (1), GUTS (6), MEANT TO BE ME (3), KEARNEY LANE (8)
SUGGESTED BET: TASCOTT LADY (1) to win
BETTOR WATCH HIM (1) looks to get his chance from the ace gate here and it could be the case that driver Taleah McMullen is well placed to score a 3 race triple treat. His last start had merit when unable to find position and forced to snag back. That followed 3 successive placed runs behind stronger opponents. He looks hard to stop.
JOHNNYCAKE (3) has been freshened since his last start when locked away on the pegs and not racing generously in the run. Prior to that he had been in nice touch and hit the line in good style to get within a half-neck of the winner LOTS MORE GRINS at AP 3 starts back. He is in the mix.
WEE JIMMY (8) was buried away along the pegs at Redcliffe last start and hit the line nicely using the passing lane to finish within 5m of the winner OUR PEPPERJACK. With even luck he can be closing out to find the podium.
LOTS MORE GRINS (6) was an AP winner 2 starts back when finding his race and pressing forward to find the front from the five-hole and holding on. He worked too hard last start and with the cosy trip here will be searching for the gaps.
SELECTIONS: BETTOR WATCH HIM (1), JOHNNYCAKE (3), WEE JIMMY (8), LOTS MORE GRINS (6)
SUGGESTED BET: BETTOR WATCH HIM (1) to win
MISSINMEMATE (9) makes his Qld debut for Darrel Graham and arrives with form in much stronger races than he faces here. Last start at Menangle he did his share of work and fought hard in holding the silver behind REDBANK ADDI. Only 2m from the winner 2 starts back he just needs even luck to start with a win.
SIR SEMPER FIDELIS (3) will be fitter again following 2 runs back from a break with the latest outing a nice effort when only 3.5m from the handy THE BOYS GNP. His 1st up run here over the 1850m trip was a big effort after covering plenty of extra ground and he can throw down the challenge here.
INVITE ONLY (7) will be on the short back-up from Friday after looking to get a chance from gate 5. Not suited from the breeze in muddy conditions here prior to that, she can find a position here and land in the money.
OUR DIAMOND EDITON (2) resumes from a spell and from this gate can look to find a handy positon in the run. Her last run before the break saw her do some early work and staying out of any early pressure can see her chime into the exotics.
SELECTIONS: MISSINMEMATE (9), SIR SEMPER FIDELIS (3), INVITE ONLY (7), OUR DIAMOND EDITON (2)
SUGGESTED BET: MISSINMEMATE (9) to win
DRIVE THE DREAM (5) faces the wide gate here at her Marburg debut and has been winless for close to 12 months now. Her recent form has been against much tougher opponents, with her past 2 in conditioned races and has form behind the flying MR KALYPSO and LILAC FLASH. With even luck in transit she gets her chance.
LETHAL STAR (9) had placed in 3 of her previous 4 starts prior to tackling a race here at Marburg on Friday. From the pocket trail at Redcliffe 2 runs back she chased gamely for the bronze behind JUST SEDUCE ME which followed a close 3rd in a mares qualifier. Look for her looking to work over the top.
HAPPY SCHNAPPS (2) took on a 2040m trip at Redcliffe last start and from the pocket trail couldn’t go when the sprint went on. From the gate he can look to fire the 1st shot and can be sharper here.
ITS ALL TORQUE (1) didn’t have much luck last start and carted a flat tyre when back in the pack and prior to that had faced some wide gates. With an improved alley he can punch through and in what looks a tricky contest chime into the money.
SELECTIONS: DRIVE THE DREAM (5), LETHAL STAR (9), HAPPY SCHNAPPS (2), ITS ALL TORQUE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: DRIVE THE DREAM (5) to win
JAX NAVARO (3) pressed ahead to find the pegs from gate 2 at Redcliffe 2 starts back and was only grabbed in the closing stages by READILY. Fitter from that run after a slight freshen , he showed the benefit when sprinting hard to claim victory at Redcliffe over the 2040m trip on Wed night. He can go back-to-back.
NEWMERELLA SHARKIE (2) did his share of early work in the run 2 starts back and was sound to the line behind the handy MAYWYNS COURAGE 2 starts back. Taken back from gate 5 at Redcliffe last start he was looking for luck and was never in the hunt. With the improved gate he can feature.
TED WEST (8) was luckless last start after striking trouble and put in a good effort when not far away behind SIR JULIAN. Using the passing lane to get within 2m of the winner 2 starts back he won’t be far away in this.
LOORIM LAD (4) is showing steady improvement at his 3 runs back from a break since arriving in Qld. He will need some luck from this alley but finding position he can be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: JAX NAVARO (3), NEWMERELLA SHARKIE (2), TED WEST (8), LOORIM LAD (4)
SUGGESTED BET: JAX NAVARO (3) to win
