RACE TWO

Placed in 4 successive runs including close 2nd placed runs in 2 of those, MAKOA (2) wasn’t suited last start when forced to ease back from gate 7. His run 2 starts back was a solid effort when setting a sizzling tempo out in front prior to being nabbed in the shadows of the post. He can control this.

KID MONTANA (1) was a qualifying winner here 2 starts back when starting from the 2nd line over the 2138m and then packing too many closing bullets to arrive for a 7m victory. Only 5m from the winner last start, he will get the perfect trip here and can be ready for the closing shot.

MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (4) has been building towards a victory in 4 runs since joining the Ian Gurney yard. His effort last start form gate 7 was full of merit and with even luck he can feature.

KETUT (8) is best served when saved for a closing shot and with the benefit of the soft trip here will be coiled and ready to strike. Only beaten a head here on Tues, he will strip fitter and can swoop.

SELECTIONS: MAKOA (2), KID MONTANA (1), MY MASTERCRAFTSMAN (4), KETUT (8)
SUGGESTED BET: MAKOA (2) to win

RACE THREE

HEZ RAZOR SHARP (3) was after a hat-trick of victories last start when landing the 2nd line. Angled to the pegs for an economical trip, he was hitting the line hard to grab the silver behind MARK OF INTEGRITY. A smart all the way winner 2 starts back, he can fire out and be gripping on.

OUR LITTLE DIGGER (1) showed some slippery moves from the gate last week prior to releasing and from the pocket trail then sprinted hard up the passing lane to arrive for the prize. That was a qualifier and this is step up but with his closing moves along the lane, he can take the snipers shot.

DREAM TO SHARE (2) lands his best gate for some time and has been meeting slightly stronger opponents than he meets here. Not far from SECRETAGENT TYCOON last start, he is in the mix.

MAJESTIC KIWI (10) showed some sharp moves of his own last week to arrive from 3 back the poles to claim victory up the passing lane. With wins in 4 of his past 6, he won’t be far away again here.

SELECTIONS: HEZ RAZOR SHARP (3), OUR LITTLE DIGGER (1), DREAM TO SHARE (2), MAJESTIC KIWI (10)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-3-10

RACE FOUR

Returning from a spell last week MR KALYPSO (5) sat in the running line from the 2nd line gate and loomed up strongly in the stretch, only to be collared in the closing stages over the mile. The 2138m is his preferred trip and with the added fitness, he can roll forward and looks to have a mortgage on this.

MONTANA CHIEF (2) held the early pace prior to releasing the front last start. From the pocket trail he was ready to take the shot, but was out-sprinted by the charging MAJESTIC KIWI. Hitting the line in good style the start prior, he can fire the 1st shot here and then has the options.

OFFTHETOPOFMYHEAD (6) has good closing speed when saved for one shot and from this gate if able to find position without getting too far back can be chiming in late.

ROYAL LINCOLN (10) was locked away against the pegs last start from the 2nd line and worked home well for 3rd in the Rising Stars Final. Saved for one run he can find the podium here.

SELECTIONS: MR KALYPSO (5), MONTANA CHIEF (2), OFFTHETOPOFMYHEAD (6), ROYAL LINCOLN (10)
SUGGESTED BET: MR KALYPSO (5) to win

RACE FIVE

SAMS THE MASTER (4) has had 5 starts since arriving in Qld and been meeting the open company on each occasion. While this will still be a tough assignment, he should appreciate the absence of the top-liners. Not far away from MAJOR CAM 3 starts back, he wasn’t suited from gate 6 last time and he gets a chance here.

FAME ASSURED (11) was able to capitalise on the circumstances last start and out in front it was nothing more than a training run when landing the prize. After 2 runs back from a break, her fitness will be strengthened and with the right cart home in this, can be issuing a challenge.

MATTGREGOR (7) is never far from the action and last start rolled forward to the breeze over the middle distance from gate 6. Fighting hard for the silver when beaten a half-neck, he will be in the mix again.

ITALIAN DELIGHT (9) made the most of a drop-in class last start and chiming in with a well-timed run arrived for a smart victory. Saved for the closing shot again, he will be right in the fight.

SELECTIONS: SAMS THE MASTER (4), FAME ASSURED (11), MATTGREGOR (7), ITALIAN DELIGHT (9)
SUGGESTED BET: SAMS THE MASTER (4) to win

RACE SIX

RANFURLY RULZ (2) settled back in the pack from gate 11 last start and was working home wide off the track in good order to be within 4m of the winner CC JONES. 2 starts back he wasn’t suited by doing the heavy lifting in the breeze and faded out over the 2138m. This looks his chance to score.

LIVING GRAND (5) was locked away against the pegs from the ace gate here last week and probing for an opening was 2m from the winner. Not suited if locked away and needing to sprint late, he will be better served here where he can settle handy and with the right luck can challenge.

OUR MEMPHIS MAC (6) has been hitting the line strongly in his races of late and if able to settle close enough from the tough gate, might just arrive at the right time.

DONNY JONES (1) is better suited at the sprint trip, but lands the peg-line benefits here off the ace. Not too far from KURAHAUPO GAMBLER 2 starts back, over this trip, he won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: RANFURLY RULZ (2), LIVING GRAND (5), OUR MEMPHIS MAC (6), DONNY JONES (1)
SUGGESTED BET: RANFURLY RULZ (2) to win

RACE SEVEN

GLENFERRIE HOOD (7) was struck by a gear issue last start that saw him rudderless and resulted in locking wheels badly. That ended his night and the night for the majority of the field. Off his 1st up run where he was sharp in putting them away over the mile, he can get forward here to salute.

THE BUS (1) was the runner that GLENFERRIE HOOD cannoned into last week putting him out of business. 2nd up in that contest, his return run was a nice effort up the passing lane when 2m from the winner ITALIAN DELIGHT who swooped home late to score. From the options alley, he can score.

TULHURST ACE (4) will be 1st up from a break following a last start 8th when the run was still a fair effort behind LEOS BEST. Too strong for them the start prior, he might just need the hit-out.

HUGHIE GREEN (8) was 1 of only 3 to be in the contest last week and he chased gamely for 2nd to FAME ASSURED. With the early options as the lone 2nd line runner here, look for him to offer.

SELECTIONS: GLENFERRIE HOOD (7), THE BUS (1), TULHURST ACE (4), HUGHIE GREEN (8)
SUGGESTED BET: GLENFERRIE HOOD (7) to win

RACE EIGHT

GEE UP NEDDY (5) shoots for the hat-trick after successive wins from the mobile. Within 1m of OUR OVERANOVA at the 2138m mobile trip 3 starts back, he has since claimed a pair of smart wins, the latest when closing strongly. With smart manners from the tapes, he can land the threepeat.

QUIETLY SPOKEN (10) will be fitter again from her latest appearance when locked away in the run from her 10m tape and hitting the line hard to grab the bronze when only 1m from the winner SOUTHERN ALPS. 2nd to that same runner 2 starts back, with the right trip she can challenge.

MIRACLE RISING (8) loomed up to take control here 2 starts back before striking trouble and ending his chances. Finding the line in good order last start for 3rd to GEE UP NEDDY, he has claims in this.

CLOVER MAC (7) went within a head of victory at her Qld debut after taking the tail and making a closing shot that just fell short. Fitter for the run after a freshen since arriving, she is in the mix

SELECTIONS: GEE UP NEDDY (5), QUIETLY SPOKEN (10), MIRACLE RISING (8), CLOVER MAC (7)
SUGGESTED BET: GEE UP NEDDY (5) to win

RACE NINE

Racing consistently and fighting hard at his past 4 starts, CHARMING MAJOR (1) has been no further than one length from the winner in that time. Leading them up and given no peace in front last start, he was only grabbed in the closing stages. With the chance to dictate terms, he can capitalise.

STORMONT STAR (10) hasn’t been far away of late with his run last week from gate 7 a real eye-catcher. Taken back to look for the peg-luck, when the gap opened, he really sprinted sharply to get within 5m of the winner. Only a half-head away 2 starts back, he is right in the fight in this.

TIN ROOF RAIDER (3) made the most of a hot-tempo in a Rising Stars event last week and with the perfect drop was able to arrive for the prize. With a consistent form sheet, he won’t be far away.

GETARATTLEON (4) started from the 2nd line last start when hitting the line strongly in the closing stages to get within 2m of the winner. With a sharp closing sprint, he can be swooping late here.

SELECTIONS: CHARMING MAJOR (1), STORMONT STAR (10), TIN ROOF RAIDER (3), GETARATTLEON (4)
SUGGESTED BET: CHARMING MAJOR (1) to win

RACE TEN

ISLAND BANNER (5) MAKES HER Qld debut and will shoot for the hat-trick after wins at Newcastle and Menangle at her past 2. Easing back from gate 6 last start over the Menangle mile, she was attacking the line strongly to arrive for the prize. A smart mare with 10 wins, she can add to that.

CHINOOK WINDS (1) is on the back-up from Redcliffe on Thursday and should appreciate the improved gate. Snagged back from gate 6 in a similar race 4 starts back, she was hitting the line hard to grab the bronze. Luckless over the 2138m 2 starts back, with the peg options she is in the mix.

PAY ME INTEREST (8) returns from a freshen and was last seen when closing out strongly in the latter stages to get within a neck of victory. With a cosy run in transit she will be probing for holes.

MY SECRET TORQUE (3) has been around the money in recent starts, scoring a nice all the way win here 2 starts back. Within 3m of the winner from gate 6 here last start, she won’t be far away.

SELECTIONS: ISLAND BANNER (5), CHINOOK WINDS (1), PAY ME INTEREST (8), MY SECRET TORQUE (3)
SUGGESTED BET: ISLAND BANNER (5) to win
