Racing Queensland has appointed one of Australia’s most experienced greyhound racing administrators, Brenton Scott, to the position of Greyhound Strategy and Development Manager.

Mr Scott brings more than 30 years-worth of experience to the role, which will oversee the strategic management of greyhound racing operations and commercial performance.

Mr Scott comes to Racing Queensland having spent the past 22 years as the Executive Officer of the NSW Greyhound Breeders Owners and Trainers Association, following a stint as the Deputy General Manager of the South Australian Greyhound Racing Authority.

He is also a former Director of Racingcorp, a current Director of Greyhound Media Services and has undertaken various executive roles within the national greyhound club administration.

Mr. Scott was responsible for leading the strategic response which successfully overturned the 2016 decision of the NSW Government to prohibit, by legislation, greyhound racing.

He was also subsequently appointed by the NSW Government as the sole greyhound racing representative on the Reform Panel that determined the governance arrangements for the continuation of greyhound racing in NSW.

Racing Queensland Chief Operating Officer Adam Wallish – who held the role previously – said the appointment came after an extensive and thorough recruitment process.

“It was important that whomever was chosen to fill the position had the necessary experience, strategic thinking and alignment with participants to lead the greyhound code in Queensland into a new era,” Mr Wallish said.

“This is an exciting time for the greyhound code in Queensland with the recent prize money increases and the government’s approval of the Racing Queensland Infrastructure plan. I look forward to welcoming Mr Scott to the team in the new year.”

Mr Scott said he looked forward joining the team to help Racing Queensland continue to build on its commercial performance and deliver the infrastructure required to grow greyhound racing in the state.

“I am thrilled to join the Racing Queensland team and look forward to meeting with as many industry stakeholders as possible over the coming months,” Mr Scott said.
