Former champion Peter McMullen and new kid on the block Nathan Dawson will lead Queensland's assault on the 2018 Australian Drivers Championship at Globe Derby in October.

Queensland holds the most wins in the series which was established in 2014, with McMullen claiming the inaugural edition, followed by Grant Dixon in 2015.

McMullen broke through for his maiden Queensland metropolitan drivers' title in 2017-18 with 49 wins (170 statewide).

His cousin, Dawson steered a staggering 208 winners statewide to win the Queensland premiership, finishing fourth on the nationwide tally.

It ensured Dawson established himself as one of the country's brightest driving prospects.

The duo will no doubt face a tough challenge from the likes of defending champion Chris Alford (Victoria) and 2016 champion Wayne Hill (South Australia) who will have the home ground advantage.

The series, which pits the top two drivers from each state in a one-night competition will take place on October 27 in Adelaide.
