There were five local races on September 7th, including the Ulton Cup Maiden Plate, won by Bundaberg’s premier trainer Darryl Gardiner with Al’s Briefs. This was also the first win for Hannah Phillips since becoming a fully-fledged jockey.

Accounting firm Ulton hosted the main marquee, with 400 clients, associates, and employees enjoying the premium event on the local racing calendar. Ulton is committed to corporate social responsibility, and each year choose a charity to support. This year Ulton chose to support drought-stricken farmers, raising $24,000 for Rural Aid’s Suicide Prevention Campaign. 17-year-old country singer and Rural Aid Ambassador Phoebe Jay was excited to be part of the event and is looking forward to seeing families get the help they need.

Competition was tough in the Melbourne Hotel Fashions on the Field with Lady of the Day and Best Millinery Categories being taken out by out of town guests Sarah Holdsworth (Roma) and Jen March (Emerald). The best-dressed couple category was won by locals Rachel and Nick Roffey.

The Bundaberg Race Club is now looking forward to one of their biggest race meetings of the year on Melbourne Cup Day, where they will welcome Racing Queensland CEO Brendan Parnell to Thabeban Park.
