RACE TWO

TAJIE BABY (3) took on a 2nd division qualifier last start when settling close to the action and finishing within 5m of the winner in a blanket finish. Hitting the line strongly 3 starts back over the 2138m trip, the drop to this mares grade looks ideal and she can open her Qld account.

LIFEINHEAVEN (9) gains a handy advantage with some early scratchings and will get the easy trip against the pegs. Pressing forward to work early before taking cover last start, it was a tidy effort behind MISSINMEMATE. Still needing a slice of luck to go her way, look for her descending late.

LUCKY LYLA (6) will take added benefit from her latest appearance when 2nd up from a 12 month stint on the sidelines. Holding the pocket trail from inside the 2nd line, she was making a closing play when 2.5m from the winner VINTAGE DREAM. The gate stings yet she can look to feature.

MAFFIOSO GIRL (5) has been kept fresh since her last appearance when working home strongly wide off the track to be 6m from the winner. Claiming a mares event here 3 starts back, she can chime in.

RACE THREE

STORM GILBERT (2) was rewarded for his tenacity 2 starts back when proving too strong for them from the breeze and ending a frustrating strong of 2nd placed returns where he had been mighty close on 3 successive occasions. Closing for another 2nd last start from gate 9, he can bounce back.

COBBLER LANE (7) met a much stronger field last start when down the line behind BLACK HAWK JOE. Placed his previous 4 in succession, he will get an easy trip here and can look to chime in.

RACE FOUR

GHOST GUM (1)
snagged back from gate 4 last start to find position and angling to the pegs was looking for the short-cuts. The 2040m was his undoing his previous 2 starts and back to the sprint trip suits here. In what looks an open and tricky contest to dissect, he has the options to capitalise.

JILLIBY MONKEY (7) will need some luck from the gate but if able to sight the right gaps in time can look to slice through. Still a maiden, he again meets some experienced campaigners and last start was charging home in the closing stages when runner-up to WHATA STRIDE. He will be probing.

PIN CODE (5) joins the Damo Shaw team after being left in Qld by Rickie Alchin. Luckless last start over the AP mile when only 2m in arrears of the winner, she can be thereabouts again here.

KID CALVERT (2) has been in the money at 7 of his past 11 outings but just can’t land a winning blow. Eased to the pegs from gate 4 last start, he was making good closing ground when 7m in arrears. Trying to fight them off in front the start prior when 2nd, he can throw down the challenge in this.

ABBEY DIADEMA (9) will take good benefit from her latest outing despite finishing down the line. 2nd up from a break, she did some early work which had followed a tidy 1st up effort. The gate stings.

CATCH THE BOUQUET (4) broke he maiden status 2 starts back when finishing best to claim a 3m victory. Rolling forward from gate 3 to settle handy last start, she was not far away and can chime in again here.

ARKADY (2) eased from gate 4 last start to find the running line before chasing home in good order for 2nd behind the big winner TASCOTT TERROR. That was the 1st placing of his career and from the gate against this line-up he looks set to be in a position to challenge.

LEFTHOOKRIGHTCROSS (6) returns from a spell following a well-spaced 5 start campaign to start his career. Hitting the line nicely at his last start to grab the silver, he will take benefit from this.

FORTYFIVE ROCK (8) has shown some good improvement in recent starts as he moves closer to an elusive victory. Holding on for the bronze last start, he is one for the exotics from the gate.

BERTILS DELIGHT (7) secured the perfect trip from this gate last week and right lined in the stretch arrived to break a winless drought that had stretched back to early in the season. She may just end up shuffled back one spot further, but with some confidence will be probing for gaps to challenge.

RAINBOW JET (4) is a Mach Three colt on debut for Grant Dixon that ranks as a half-brother to both SOMWHEREOVARAINBOW and A RAINBOW DELIGHT. With 2 trials to prepare for his debut outing, the 2nd of those was a tidy effort when not asked for much. There may be a pot of gold 1st up.

NINA SIMONE (7) has faced the starter twice in NZ, making her debut back in March over 2200m. Stepping out for Nathan Dawson for the 1st time, she stays under notice from what could be a tricky gate.
