Dual licensee Trinity Bannon remains confident she can win the Open Handicap at Mackay on Tuesday but it won’t be with her new stable star, I Did It Again.

I Did It Again has been ruled out of the 1200-metre race with a stone bruise leaving Bannon to rely on stablemate, Brad.

Brad is backing-up following his decisive win in a 1200-metre Open Handicap at Townsville’s Cluden Park on Saturday and has been re-handicapped to 59kgs.

“Brad has backed up once before after seven days and won so I doubt he’ll have a problem running again in four days,” Bannon said.

I Did It Again has emerged as one of north Queensland’s latest stars winning seven of his past nine starts since being transferred from Victoria.

“He was a lame last week from a stone bruise and he’s too good a horse to risk,” Bannon said.

“Brad will run at this stage after he surprised me by leading all the way and winning at Townsville on the weekend.

“It’s a 10-hour round trip to Townsville and back home to Mackay and he seems to have coped well.

“He was off his feed a bit on Saturday night after the race but he eaten well since.”

Brad was formerly trained by Stephen Hill in New South Wales before joining her father Mick Bannon's stable in March last year.

The five-year-old was placed in his Queensland debut at Mackay last March before breaking his maiden status in the State’s sugar city four weeks later.

Brad was then transferred to Trinity Bannon, who has started him a further 10 times for five wins and as many placings.

Brad was bought for $16,000 at an Inglis online auction and has more than repaid his outlay with a total of eight wins and six placings from 14 subsequent starts between the two Bannon stables.

Trinity Bannon will ride Brad and is hopeful of a big day out with three other starters at Townsville.

She will also partner Starsonic in the Maiden Plate (1050m), Gracious Garcon in the Ratings 0-58 Handicap (1300m) and All Star Rocket in the Class Six Handicap (1200m).
