The training partnership of Peter and Will Hulbert is confident talented filly Oh Five Glory can continue the stable’s impressive strike rate when she makes a low-key comeback at the Sunshine Coast on Friday.

Oh Five Glory will step out for the first time since the Brisbane winter carnival in the TAB QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1000m).

Co-trainer Peter Hulbert said Oh Five Glory will be hard to beat after drawing barrier one and with stable apprentice Adin Thompson aboard.

Oh Five Glory was the best of the Queensland-trained horses when she finished fifth behind Exhilarates in the Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast in January.

A daughter of the ill-fated former Magic Millions Classic winner Unencumbered, Oh Five Glory subsequently targeted the Brisbane winter carnival riches.

After an eye-catching third in the Listed Dalrello Stakes at Eagle Farm in April, Oh Five Glory failed at Group level in the Champagne Classic, Sires’ Produce Stakes and J J Atkins.

“On paper, her form doesn’t look too good in those three races but she kept running into dead ends every time,” Hulbert said.

“She had a good couple of months off after the winter and has been in work about 10 weeks.

“She’s very forward and will be very hard to beat.

“We’ve decided to claim on her and put Adin (Thompson) on as she’s got 58.5kgs and he’ll take 1.5kgs off.”

Hulbert has a team of 14 horses in work at Eagle Farm and took the unusual step of giving Oh Five Glory a barrier trial over 900 metres at Beaudesert on October 15.

“She won her trial easily and I believe it was faster than the open company trial winner,” he said.

Team Hulbert has an excellent strike rate for a small stable with 10 winners from its past 46 runners.

“We’re going well at the moment and hopefully this will be one of our best seasons,” Hulbert said.

Hulbert is yet to decide Oh Five Glory’s summer campaign but remains hopeful she’ll measure up to the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast in January.

“It depends what horses come up from Sydney but if her form is good at the time then we’ll obviously look at the Magic Millions Guineas,” he said.

“There’s a three-year-old race for fillies coming up at Eagle Farm next month which will be her immediate aim as well as these QTIS races which are worth a lot of money.”
