Rider stated that at its most recent start at Pakenham 16/6/25 gelding overraced behind the leaders & for this reason it he intended on either leading or settling outside lead to afford gelding some room. Added after initially settling outside leader intended on holding that position, however when eventual winner improved to mount’s outside, and with the fast tempo, he elected to restrain mount passing 1200m.

When questioned regarding the performance, rdr stated that near the 700m her mount was contacted on the hindquarter and became unbalanced. She added that in the home straight, her mount did not feel entirely comfortable in its action at which point she desisted from riding it out thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a superficial abrasion to its offside hock.

Fractious in barriers - pre race vet passed fit. When quest re tactics app stated she was inst to lead & allow geld to travel how comfortable. App stated she had to ride mount along to eventually obtain lead near 700m at which time she allowed it to travel how comfortable. App stated mount peaked on run passing 200m & weakened. Tnr confirmed inst. Stewards advised app when mount was beaten for speed early it would have been better served taking sit behind leaders. Further she had allowed it to travel too quickly in middle stages.
