Stewards subsequently spoke with Trainer Mr W Pugsley who advised the horse had travelled and pulled up well post-race. Began awkwardly. The rider A Meissner was dislodged shortly after the start was affected. QAS examined Ms Meissner and passed her fit to ride for the remainder of the program. The mare continued to race riderless throughout. Stewards examined the race footage available to them and declared TILLUSSION a runner. Trainer M Gavin advised the horse showed no ill effects of the incident and would give an undertaking that should she pull up sore in coming days that she would notify stewards accordingly.

As a result, the gelding was inconvenienced significantly and unable to hold its position losing ground and momentum. Failed to improve into the event from the 500m despite the best efforts of the rider to do so. Ms Heinrich said that the horse felt fine in running but just wouldn’t improved when she called on it to do so. Stewards noted her comments. All riders were advised to exercise care when shifting ground in the future. Stewards therefore recorded the matter as a racing incident.
