Raced wide. Stewards questioned jockey J. Lloyd regarding his riding of the horse in the early stages and whether he had the opportunity to improve to the inside of ARGIE BARGIE. J. Lloyd explained that he was instructed to ride the horse in a midfield position with cover and for this reason he did not apply undue pressure in the early stages. He added that the mare was inclined to lay in which prevented him riding the horse in his normal manner.

Dislodged its rider in the parade ring whilst trying to escape making contact with the rail, cleared to start. Jockey Orman explained that the gelding, which was having its first start, showed good early speed and was able to cross to the lead. Jockey Orman stated the horse raced greenly in the middle stages and in the straight. Jockey Orman added that when placed under pressure the horse wanted to lay in, which in his opinion was it beginning to tire. Jockey Orman was of the opinion the horse would be better suited stepping up in distance and would gain race fitness from today’s run.

Inside the final 200m hung out and placed its rider and some disadv over the concluding stages. Warning recorded. P/R vet revealed gelding to have bled from one nostril. Trnr advised would need to gallop to stewards satisfaction PTNS. When q'd re impr perf from last start, stable rep said gelding failed to travel with ear muffs on last start and said that today the gelding, with the ear muffs removed trav comfortably behind moderate tempo and was able to sustain a strong finishing effort.

Fitzgerald reported that the gelding had shown promise in its first campaign however it was not finishing off its races. The gelding had a cyst removed since its last race, and Mr Fitzgerald indicated to Stewards that he believed that this was the major contributing factor in the horse’s improved performance.

Failed to make any ground on winner over final 300m. Foreman confirmed instructions, satisfied with ride after viewing footage. Rider advised erred in restraing passing the 800m. Vetted - no abnormalities
