When qst re disap perf, rdr std, after being fractious in barriers was slow to begin & settled further back than intended. Added gelding was then inclined to race keenly in the early & middle stages & once pace of race slackened near 900m allowed his mount to improve around another runner, which left him racing in a 3 wide position. Further std was under pressure before h/t & was disap in manner in which it finished off race. A post race vet exam did not rev any abs.

When asked to explained the performance, jockey D. Browne stated that the horse is still green and would take benefit from the race experience today. He added that the colt finished the race off quite well in the straight and, in his view, will be better suited in races over longer distances than that of todays.

Questioned re tactics - rider explained ridden vigorously early recent starts but hadn't finished race off so varied tactics to be ridden with cover today and was able to settle midfield on the fence. Passing 600m elected to shift wider on the track from a position on the fence to ensure was afforded clear running, then taken wider rounding the home turn but finished the race off well. Stewards advised app he should have remained in a trailing position to save ground rounding the home turn.

Hampered when tightened for room shortly after the start. Approaching the 800m shifted out and bumped CELLYSE. Bumped leaving the 300m.

However, when asked to improve to inside of FAMOUS GROUSE upon straightening failed to quicken as expected and in her opinion was disappointing and gelding may not have appreciated todays firm surface. Trainer expressed disappointment and indicated would monitor recovery. Vetted - no abnormalities and a routine swab sample taken.
