When questioned, rdr stated as her instructions were to settle in an on-pace position she rode the gelding with urgency from the outside barrier. She said after crossing to the rail, her mnt travelled very strongly in the lead despite her efforts to have it set a more sustainable tempo, and being first up, the gelding could not close off in the straight and consequently weakened. A post-race vet exam revealed no abnormalities.
