. Lloyd explained that approaching the finish line his mount was inclined to lay in slightly and as OUR RED JET improved to the inside of CLASSAY (R. Fradd), jockey Fradd called, resulting in jockey Lloyd straightening his mount and as a consequence not riding it right out to the finish. As stewards were not able to ascertain whether or not such action cost his mount 5th placing, no action was taken.

Jockey D Griffin reported at scale that he had recommended to connections to remove the blinkers as he was of the view that this may be the reason why the gelding has been beginning poorly in its races. The veterinary surgeon reported post-race that the gelding was suffering from a mild case of heat stress.

When quest re perf. app rdr stated that mount obtained a posn behind leaders it failed to travel comfortably & was inclined to overrace in middle stages. App added app h/turn mount failed to respond to pressure & felt reluctant to stretch out & sprint. App stated he doesn't believe mare appreciated firm track. When quest tnr stated mare appears to appreciate softer going & he is not convinced it can run out 1250m journey. P/R vet exam no ab's.

– rounding the home turn, as Conniving shifted out to improve around the heels of Kooringal Star, it made contact on a number of occasions with Deny Allcharges. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Rider stated his mount travelled satisfactorily in the early stages, but from the 600m he raced in restricted room between Eye Of America and Deny Allcharges and, after making contact with Deny Allcharges, when he shifted out near the 500m, his mount failed to finish the race off thereafter. A post-race vet exam revealed the mare to be displaying poor post-race recovery.
