Trainer stated gelding had worked well leading into the event and was confident of its chances. Gelding may be better suited when able to lead uncontested and on softer track conditions, subsequently reported gelding pulled up well would continue preparation

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer Mr A. Williamson attributed the performance to the addition of blinkers, as the horse had been galloped in blinkers on Tuesday and worked well and he expected a forward showing today, particularly given the horse was caught wide without cover at its most recent start and he had been satisfied with the horse’s finishing effort.

Questioned re performance - jockey stated mount enjoyed a comfortable run behind leaders throughout early and middle stages. Mount was under pressure from the 600m and weakened noticeably in its run to the line. Did not place his mount under pressure over the final 200m as was a beaten horse. Trainer stated this is the geldings first preparation after having a wind operation and he has been disappointed with all of its runs this preparation. A decision on geldings racing future would be made in the coming days.
