He indicated that when in a favourable position behind the lead, he was mindful of the fact he was following a senior rider that he expected to remain on the fence. He therefore shifted to a one-off position in an attempt to secure clear running, however shortly after entering the home straight the leader shifted out slightly and he was held up for clear running and ultimately steadied near the 300m and then checked approaching the 200m and was unable then to secure clear running and went to the line withou
