Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the horses seemingly improved performance, trainer D. Duryea stated that at its last start the gelding had become fractious in the barriers and lost significant ground at the start. She added that along with a spell and gear changes the gelding had improved its barrier manners after competing in two trials and as a result she expected a forward showing today.

Hellyer reported that his mount weakened quickly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.Trainer A. Willick reported that the horse sustained a minor laceration to the inside of the off fore fetlock and in the subsequent days was quite sore on this leg.
