When questioned, jockey M. Hellyer stated his mount settled at the rear of the field and travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages. M. Hellyer stated when the field commenced to sprint near the 400m his mount was left flatfooted and was unable to make any ground on the leading division down the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did not reveal any abnormality.

Race wide, without cover, from this point as it gradually worked forward to settle outside the leader near the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
