Tilley agreed the performance was disappointing but could offer no explanation other than the filly was having her first run following a spell, and in his opinion would derive a fitness benefit from this event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Jockey W. O’Connell pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that shortly after the start he allowed his mount to shift in under pressure when insufficiently clear of RALPH THE DRAGON, which was severely tightened for room and forced in, resulting in JAI’S LUCK also being tightened for room and having to be checked. Jockey W. O’Connell’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight, 25 March and to expire at midnight, 5 April 2017.
