When questioned regarding the poor performance Jockey explained that the mare raced comfortably in the lead in the early and middle stages, however when asked for an effort prior to straightening for home failed to respond and weakened noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer was at a loss to explain the poor performance and undertook to advise stewards if anything was amiss with the filly in the days following the event. Trainer since reported that mare had pulled well and it was his intention to freshen the mare prior to its next start.

A post - race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer stated that the mare had had one start on this track before and a proved disappointing and believes that the mare does not handle this track.

Jockey and connections of gelding, lodged an objection against third placegetter, alleging interference rounding home turn approaching 400m. After taking evidence from all parties, viewing patrol films it was established that near the 400m the other runner shifted in and momentarily hampered gelding however bearing in mind the minor nature of interference, the manner in which both horses ran to the finish and the ½ length margin stewards could not be satisfied that had interference not occurred gelding would not have beaten other runner and subsequently dismissed the objection.
